Job summary

Rocketship Public Schools in Redwood City is seeking a friendly cafeteria aide to support daily meal service for students and staff. The role focuses on setup, service, cash handling, recordkeeping, and safety in a dynamic school cafeteria.

You will supervise students during recess, enforce site rules, collaborate with teachers and families, and participate in staff trainings to ensure compliant and smooth operation of meals and related activities.

Job description

Essential Functions
  • Arrange set-up and clean‑up for all food items, supplies, equipment, food preparation and serving areas.
  • Collect payment for food items for students and staff as needed (e.g., cash).
  • Maintain cafeteria records and reports as required to meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding the type and/or cost of meals.
  • Supervise and monitor students during assigned recess periods.
  • Implement all site rules and safety regulations within the structure of the Rocketship classroom culture.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, including equipment, to administrators immediately.
  • Ensure a safe and effective arrival/dismissal for all students before and after school hours.
  • Utilize appropriate disciplinary procedures and techniques in accordance with the school site discipline plan.
  • Attend staff meetings and in‑service training as deemed necessary for the position.

  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn.

$19.50 - $23 an hour
