The Operations Specialist supports facility operations and operational readiness within a highly regulated national security environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Experience coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical needs into clear plans and documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsabilités

  • Coordinate project activities, schedules, deliverables, milestones, and action tracking across multiple organizations.
  • Serve as a central coordination point between facility personnel, programmatic customers, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Support operational readiness planning and execution for technical and regulated facility operations.
  • Participate in facility and area walkdowns to evaluate field conditions, operational needs, and readiness.
  • Support internal assessments, external audits, workplace observations, and corrective actions.
  • Track project and operational actions through completion and communicate status, risks, and outstanding needs to stakeholders.
  • Gather technical information from subject matter experts and translate requirements into clear plans, procedures, communications, and controlled documentation.
  • Analyze operational information and develop accurate, actionable work products to support decision-making and execution.
  • Research and implement effective practices related to operational readiness, process improvement, and procedure development.
  • Ensure work products align with applicable DOE requirements, organizational procedures, and institutional standards.
  • Develop written, verbal, and visual communications to support facility and program objectives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to job functions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
  • Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.

Position Summary

The Operations Specialist supports facility operations and operational readiness within a highly regulated national security environment. This position works closely with facility, technical, and programmatic teams to coordinate project activities, schedules, deliverables, assessments, and action items while helping ensure work is executed in accordance with applicable DOE and organizational requirements.

The role serves as a key coordination point across multiple stakeholders, translating operational and technical needs into actionable plans, documentation, procedures, and communications. The Operations Specialist also participates in facility walkdowns and assessments, supports readiness activities, and contributes to process improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Experience supporting work in an operational, technical, regulated, or compliance-driven environment.
  • Experience coordinating project activities, schedules, deliverables, assessments, and action tracking across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience participating in or supporting facility walkdowns, workplace observations, assessments, or other field-based activities.
  • Ability to understand and apply organizational policies, procedures, and institutional requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder coordination, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Ability to analyze technical or operational information and translate it into clear, accurate, and actionable work products.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DOE Orders and LANL procedures related to nuclear facility operations.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules.
  • Experience with LANL business systems, including Oracle, UTrain, or PDMLink.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Active DOE Q Clearance.
