Job description

ERock is a leader and innovator in distributed energy. ERock has responded to long-term trends in electricity by becoming the first smart-grid supplier to US energy consumers. The company installs, operates, and integrates its highly flexible, low-cost, and quick-response distributed generation to increase reliability and stability, reduce costs and decrease carbon footprint.

At ERock, our backup generators ensure that customers will never be without power, allowing their business to operate normally when there is an outage in the area. Our innovative approach provides customers with highly reliable, ultra-clean backup generation at a fraction of the cost of traditional backup solutions. We seek those who share our commitment to customer service, innovation, and ingenuity.

Position Overview:

The Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager and is responsible for leading safe, reliable, and efficient shift operations across modular natural gas generation assets and balance-of-plant equipment. The Operations Supervisor provides front-line leadership for plant operations in a 24/7 environment. This role oversees rotational shift execution, equipment performance, operating discipline, maintenance coordination, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on power generation or industrial operations experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in time‑sensitive operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shift Leadership: Direct daily operations, monitor control systems, coordinate shift handoffs, and provide leadership for operators and technicians supporting modular natural gas generators and balance‑of‑plant equipment. This position requires a rotational shift schedule.
  • Reliability & Performance: Monitor plant performance through software‑based and automated grid‑control systems; identify, elevate, and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical anomalies as needed.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Support run‑hour‑based preventive and corrective maintenance workflows using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), ensuring work is prioritized and documented appropriately.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture and enforce environmental, health, and safety requirements, including compliance with applicable state and federal operating permits.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary on‑site operational lead during assigned shifts or off‑hours, coordinating with plant management, utility partners, client representatives, and maintenance teams.
Requirements
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in power generation, gas plant operations, industrial plant operations, utilities, or mission‑critical electrical/mechanical environments.
  • Leadership: 3 to 5 years of experience supervising teams, operators, or technicians in a 24/7 shift‑based operational environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial electrical distribution, reciprocating internal combustion engines or modular generators, automated control systems, and plant operating procedures.
  • Systems & Tools: Proficiency with digital operations software, CMMS platforms, control‑room data, and technical documentation.
  • Decision‑Making: Ability to interpret technical information, respond to operational issues, and make safe, effective decisions under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across operations, maintenance, management, utilities, and customer‑facing stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead by example in fast‑paced, high‑reliability operating environments.
  • Comfort working rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, or off‑hours as required by plant operations.
