Job summary

Perdue Farms, Inc. is seeking an Operations Safety Lead to drive safety initiatives across our Perry, GA operations. You will identify hazards, enforce PPE use, and lead training to build a culture of safe work practices during the 2nd shift.

The role requires at least 6 months of consecutive work history in a comparable field, with a preference for poultry processing experience. This full-time position emphasizes safety leadership and continuous improvement on the plant floor.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer in a comparable field.
• Preference for poultry processing/manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work the 2nd shift and adhere to PPE and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety requirements including PPE and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.
• Overseeing Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management matters.
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures per OSHA and company standards.
• Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and corrective actions.
• Lead safety training sessions for employees to promote a safety culture.
• Interview associates to assess knowledge of safety programs and provide training.
• Collaborate with management to set safety goals and monitor progress.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, document findings, and suggest improvements.
• Promote continuous improvement of safety programs across operations.

Schedule

2nd Shift: Monday through Friday

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions Overseeing Lockout- Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead safety training sessions for employees to promote a culture of safety and awareness.
• Interview associates on knowledge of safety programs and ensure appropriate training is provided.
• Collaborate with management to establish safety goals and monitor progress toward achieving them.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.
• Serve as a resource for safety-related inquiries and provide guidance to team members on best practices.
• Promote continuous improvement of safety programs and initiatives across all operational areas.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years in a comparable field.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School or equivalent is beneficial but not required.
• Experience in a poultry processing/manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

When in a plant environment:

• Ability to tolerate exposure to wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
• Ability to stand for an extended period and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs by reaching, bending, and pushing boxes.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection as required.
• May work in an environment with varying temperatures between 25 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May handle products varying in temperatures between 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
• Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
