Job description

Summary

The PALACE Acquire Program offers a permanent position upon completion of a formal training plan. As a Palace Acquire Intern you will experience personal and professional growth while dealing effectively and ethically with change, complexity, and problem solving. The program offers a 3‑year formal training plan with yearly salary increases. Promotions and salary increases are based upon successful performance and supervisory approval.

Eligibility
  • U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S.
  • Current students enrolled in an accredited high school, college, or graduate institution.
  • Recent graduates who earned a degree within the last 2 years (6 years for veterans).
Job Responsibilities
GS‑07
  • Perform a variety of tasks in support of projects assigned to higher‑level analysts.
  • Conduct special research tasks that enhance knowledge of work processes and techniques and apply fundamentals of associated disciplines.
  • Identify data sources and perform data acquisition and reduction.
  • Develop reports summarizing accomplishments and results of assignments, presenting findings within own organization.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to remain current in the field and apply to work assignments.
GS‑09
  • Plan own work procedures to support projects assigned to higher‑grade operations research analysts.
  • Perform general operations research assignments consisting of interrelated tasks or problems screened by a higher‑grade analyst.
  • Assist higher‑grade analysts in finding solutions to problems requiring a variety of data sources and disciplines.
  • Develop written summaries and reports for higher‑level analysts, contractors, and/or customers.
  • Stay abreast of emerging techniques and professional developments to remain current in the field and apply to work assignments.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject‑matter courses requiring substantial competence in college‑level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

You may qualify if you meet one of the following:

  1. GS‑07: 4‑year bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level. GPA of at least 2.95 out of 4.0; or 3.45 or higher on required major courses.
  2. GS‑09: 2 years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or equivalent. GPA of at least 2.95 out of 4.0; or 3.45 or higher on required major courses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  1. Professional operations research knowledge to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, processes, and operational problems.
  2. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions.
  3. Ability to conduct extensive inquiry into basic data to discover facts or fundamental relationships.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  5. Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications.
