Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Process/Project Engineer with a strong background in oil & gas, natural gas processing, and plant operations to support capital projects and operational improvements.

You will work directly with operations and field teams to troubleshoot issues, lead or support capital and maintenance projects, develop scopes and cost estimates, and perform hydraulic modeling and PHAs to enhance safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in oil & gas/process engineering.
• 5+ years in plant environment for process or project engineering.
• Experience with natural gas processing, pipelines, LPG, terminals, or refining.
• Familiarity with PSM and PHAs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot operations with field teams and develop solutions.
• Lead or support capital and maintenance projects from scope to execution.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates up to $10M.
• Coordinate with third-party firms and construction crews.
• Analyze and optimize plant efficiency and recoveries.
• Lead or participate in PHAs and address safety risks.
• Perform hydraulic modeling for gas & liquids pipelines.
• Support growth projects through feasibility studies and cost estimates.
• Assist due diligence for potential midstream asset acquisitions.
• Collaborate with agencies and support incident response.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Process/Project Engineer with a strong background in oil & gas, natural gas processing, and plant operations to support capital projects and operational improvements.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Work directly with operations, control room, and field teams to troubleshoot operational issues and develop solutions.
• Lead or support capital and maintenance projects from initial scope and design through execution.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates for projects up to $10M.
• Coordinate with third-party engineering firms, project engineers, and construction crews.
• Analyze and optimize natural gas processing plant efficiency and recoveries.
• Lead or participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and identify projects to address safety/process risks.
• Perform hydraulic modeling for oil, NGL, and natural gas pipelines.
• Support new growth projects through feasibility studies, engineering options, and cost estimates.
• Assist with due diligence for potential midstream asset acquisitions.
• Work with local, state, and federal agencies as needed.
• Support operations and incident response efforts when required.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of oil & gas / process engineering experience
• 5+ years of process or project engineering experience in a plant environment
• Experience with natural gas processing, compressor stations, LPG, terminals, pipelines, or refining
• Strong understanding of process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and controls engineering
• Experience with PSM and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
• Experience with ProMax or similar process simulation software
• Experience with hydraulic modeling for gas and liquids
• Ability to develop heat & material balances
• Experience sizing relief valves and control valves
• Strong troubleshooting and operational problem-solving skills
• Experience developing conceptual and detailed project cost estimates
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
