Job summary

Energy Transfer seeks a Process Engineer to help expand assets through cryogenic gas processing, NGL fractionation, exports, and petrochemical ventures. Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in a cross-disciplinary setting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering, with MS or PE license considered a plus, and experience in midstream or petrochemical sectors. Proficient in ProMax and HYSYS is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering discipline (Chemical preferred).
  • MS and/or PE license considered a plus.
  • Experience in midstream or petrochemical industries highly preferred.
  • Proficient with engineering software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and operations.
  • Lead with organization, communication, and team working skills through training and experience.
  • Perform upfront engineering on midstream assets including amine treaters, condensate stabilizers, glycol dehydration, cryogenic gas processing plants, NGL fractionation facilities, petrochemical, and NGL export terminals.
  • Assist Project Managers in process design, evaluating operating scenarios, and assisting in the development of project scopes and cost estimates.
  • Ensure quality of PFDs, H&M Balances, P&IDs, Equipment Data Sheets, etc.
  • Provide technical support and oversight to capital project management teams and third-party engineering companies in design review, process hazard assessment and Layers of Protection Analysis, construction, commissioning, and start-up of large processing, storage & handling facilities.
  • Lead process design and development efforts in support of major capital projects.
  • Utilize information and judgement to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and safety standards.
  • Proactively broaden and deepen process engineering knowledge base and proficiencies.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority.

Job Summary

The Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in working to expand the existing assets of the company through development of new projects related to Cryogenic Gas Processing Plants, NGL Fractionation facilities, NGL Exports, Petrochemical, Alternative Energy, and Emerging Technologies. Planning, design, analytical problem solving, decisions making, teamwork, and good communication skills are necessary for the position.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities for Process Engineer position:
  • Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and operations
  • Have leadership capabilities with organization, communication, and team working skills, through a combination of formal training and experience
  • Perform upfront engineering on wide range of midstream assets including, but not limited to: new amine treaters, condensate stabilizers, glycol dehydration, cryogenic gas processing plants, NGL fractionation facilities, petrochemical, and NGL export terminals
  • Assist Project Managers in process design of projects, evaluating operating scenarios, and assisting in the development of project scopes and cost estimates
  • Ensure quality of Process Design Package deliverables (PFDs, H&M Balances, P&IDs, Equipment Data Sheets, etc.)
  • Providing technical support and oversight to capital project management teams and third-party engineering companies in design review, process hazard assessment and Layers of Protection Analysis, construction, commissioning, and start-up of large processing, storage & handling facilities.
  • Perform process technical evaluations in early project development stages. Provide technical support to plant process engineering in the development of capital projects, and to optimize existing processes.
  • Provide support to others and develop solutions while following engineering standards, code compliance, proper company and safety standards, and good engineering practices
  • Lead process design and development efforts in support of major capital projects.
  • Utilize all available information and individual judgment to ensure that events and processes comply with laws, regulations and safety standards.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen process engineering knowledge base and proficiencies
  • Have a demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority

Required Education Or Minimum Level
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering discipline (Chemical preferred)
  • MS and/or PE License considered a plus.
Experience
  • Position is open to all experience levels, title to be commensurate with experience
  • Operational experience within the midstream or petrochemical industries highly preferred
  • NGL, fractionation, LPG export, amine, or cyro plant experience considered a plus
Software Knowledge
  • Microsoft Products
  • Engineering Simulation Programs (ProMax; Hysys; etc.)
Required Experience Is Commensurate With The Selected Job Level
  • The Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering disciplineand 6-10 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Staff Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant job related experience
  • The Principal Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 12+ years of relevant job related experience with a strong preference for a PE license

  • Normal office working conditions and field work
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
