Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a part-time co-op in our San Leandro, CA area to support New Product Development and Process Control initiatives. The role involves applying classroom knowledge to real production projects, with responsibilities ranging from design improvements to documentation and testing.

The ideal candidate is pursuing an engineering or hard sciences degree, is enrolled in a residential college, has strong writing and Excel skills, and may have prior internship experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering or hard sciences.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited residential college and have completed freshman year.
• Strong communication skills and basic technical writing ability.
• Prior internship/work experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Apply principles learned in school to hands-on situations, such as process and precision investment casting production, design and improvement.
• Accomplish performance goals and receive progressive responsibilities in process and/or production throughout co-op experience.
• Identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects.
• Attend regular departmental meetings, training sessions, and other appropriate educational opportunities.
• Will perform or review systems analysis, testing, and documentation for existing processes.
• Participate on project teams for assigned projects, analyze improvements and new product/applications, and develop requirements and specifications with team.
• Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
• Will take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
• Other duties as assigned
