M. J. Electric, LLC in Center Point, IA, is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee overhead transmission, substation, and distribution line construction projects. You will coordinate crews, manage budgets, and ensure safety and quality standards.

The role requires 10+ years of utility construction experience, a related Bachelor's degree, and strong leadership across a large geographic area. This is a full-time, on-site role with growth opportunities within a Quanta Services company.

• Extensive project management skills for complex projects.
• Extensive electrical utility experience: overhead, substations, foundations/civil.
• Ability to analyze complex information and make decisions.
• Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods.
• Oversight across numerous projects in a large geographic area.
• Strong managerial/leadership skills to lead 5+ direct reports.
• 10+ years of utility construction experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Accounting or Business Administration.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Managers and customers to coordinate crews and contractors; ensure progress meets budgets and schedules.
• Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the Safety Management System.
• Assist Project Managers with scope development and project authorization to completion.
• Keep Senior Management informed on progress, opportunities, and trends.
• Regularly appraise project progress and help correct deficiencies.
• Ensure design requirements and quality control across ongoing projects.
• Promote and develop systems for cost accounting, reporting, and budgeting.
• Interface with customers to communicate construction activities.
• Prepare budgets and forecasts; analyze variances and manage planning procedures.

About this Role - Operations Manager

We are looking for a talented Operations Manager who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for oversight, coordination, management support and technical expertise for all aspects of overhead transmission, substation, and distribution line construction, maintenance.

What You'll Do

• Work closely with Project Managers and customers to assure crews and contractors are coordinated to work efficiently and meet contracting requirements, budgets, forecasts and schedules. Ensures that barriers to construction progress are removed in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the implementation and management of the MJE Safety Management System.
• Assist Project Managers with project scope development and project authorization through completion.
• Ensure that MJE Senior Management and Joint Venture Management is kept current on the progress of construction projects, business opportunities and industry trends.
• Systematically and regularly appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines and objectives. Provide assistance to Project Managers to correct deficiencies in these areas.
• Understand critical design requirements of on-going projects and continuously monitor construction quality to ensure compliance within established tolerances.
• Promote and develop common systems and processes to provide for proper accounting, reporting of project costs, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, record keeping, documentation and budgeting by Project Managers.
• Interface with key customers to ensure that construction activities in affected areas are communicated and understood.
• Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
