Transform Education Now (TEN) is a non-profit organization that works to ensure Colorado students have access to excellent schools, regardless of their zip code. The mission of Transform Education Now is to partner with parents in order to build the skills and capacity of communities to ensure access to a world class education for all students in the Denver Metro Area. Through transparent school quality data, leadership development, and strategic partnerships, we will challenge the status quo with communities to demand high-quality schools in all neighborhoods.

TEN is part of 50CAN: The 50-State Campaign for Achievement Now, a nonprofit organization that works at the local level to advocate for a high-quality education for all kids, regardless of their address. We develop local education leaders by providing them with the research, tools, and ideas needed to create learning environments that best meet every childs needs. 50CAN operates campaigns in Connecticut, Delaware, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Tennessee and is led by CEO & Founder Marc Porter Magee.

TEN supports parent leaders across the state to build powerful and informed teams within their local communities to push for greater access to world-class schools and systems and hold them accountable to serve the needs of families and children. TEN works in multiple districts across the front range and the state legislature in order to support a network of grassroots leaders led by passionate and well-trained parents.

The Operations Manager (OM) is an ideal role for someone who is a strong communicator and values collaboration in problem solving and is passionate about community led advocacy. The OM role will support TENs mission of empowering parent leaders by ensuring systematic, proactive, and efficient operations across the organization. The operations manager works seamlessly to create opportunities for engagement, leadership development, and action for families, staff, and stakeholders. The OM will work alongside the organizing teams and parent fellows to coordinate day-to-day operations systems to allow Parent Leaders to be at the forefront of policy change.

The OM will also serve an important role with TENs affiliated 501(c)(4) organization, TEN Collective Impact. This will include supporting leaders and advocates in contacting elected officials and engaging around important elections through proactive systems solutions. It requires someone good at taking the initiative to complete a project after being given instructions. It presents an excellent opportunity for a person to meet important people involved in advocacy in Colorado and nationally and grow in the profession.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and disseminate regular communications to funders, advocates, and allies, and maintain TENs social media presence
  • Work with the Executive Director and TEN community organizers to execute the logistics of TEN events
  • Assist the organizing team in preparations for appearances before school boards and the state legislature
  • Assist the organizing team with setting and executing the organizations policy goals
  • Use TENs online tools to build and roll out calls to action and advocacy campaigns
  • Organize logistics for electoral advocacy with TEN Collective Impact, including advocate phone banking and candidate endorsement meetings
  • Monitor and report on public boards and elected bodies
  • Serve as an expert resource in TENs priorities
  • Manage regular operations for the TEN team, including communications and internal procedures
  • Support field logistics by reserving, booking, and coordinating with off-site venues, partners and vendors
  • Manage shared space
  • Support base-building efforts and first wave contact
  • Manage, plan, and execute TEN events, including recruitment and advertising
  • Participate in public actions with the organizing team
  • Represent TEN at local events and gatherings, as assigned by the Executive Director

Required

  • Baccalaureate degree or equivalent work experience
  • A willingness to work with diverse communities, racially diverse as well as politically diverse
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and communities
  • Ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively, including speaking in small and large group settings
  • Strong systems and process thinking skills and an ability
  • Ability to work collaboratively to create systems to solve problems
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, requiring flexibility, self-motivation, self-directed problem-solving, collaborative work style, drive toward results, and enthusiasm
  • Willingness to work as member of and contribute to a team in a dynamic, learning environment, including supporting team members in parallel roles
  • Passion for creating more high-quality school options for working families
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel to and attend some evening meetings and some weekends
  • Two to five years of experience in operations, event planning, advocacy, or politics

Working At 50CAN

This position is fully remote though you must reside in the metro Denver, CO area. Working hours operate on the East Coast time zone. Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
