Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee renewable energy projects in Gauteng, South Africa. About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing force in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee their expanding operations in Tembisa, Gauteng . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and effective management of renewable energy projects, from development through to ongoing operational performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in operational management, project execution, and a deep understanding of renewable energy technologies such as solar and wind. You will be responsible for optimizing site performance, managing maintenance schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of renewable energy facilities.
• Develop and implement strategies to maximize energy generation and operational efficiency.
• Manage budgets, resources, and project timelines for operational activities.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate and supervise maintenance activities, both planned and unplanned.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or similar), Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations management, with at least 3 years in the renewable energy sector.
• Proven experience with solar photovoltaic (PV) or wind energy systems.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and personnel effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Proficiency in using operational management software and tools.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
