Job description

This is a hands-on role in a small manufacturing environment and a great opportunity for someone who likes being close to the actual work. You'll spend time both in the shop and in the office, helping coordinate projects, people, priorities and information to keep things moving

Our client is a custom metal fabrication business serving the construction industry, manufacturing custom masonry, stone and structural anchors along with a variety of other fabricated metal products.

This isn't a position where you'll spend the entire day behind a desk, nor is it strictly a shop-floor position. We're looking for someone who can comfortably operate in both worlds.

What You’ll Do

You'll work across different areas of the operation and take on responsibilities that may include:

  • Coordinate projects and orders as they move through the operation
  • Work closely with the shop team to understand production status, priorities, timing and potential issues
  • Help coordinate schedules, materials, deadlines and customer requirements
  • Track open projects and orders and make sure important details don't fall through the cracks
  • Provide updates internally and help keep the office, shop and leadership on the same page
  • Identify bottlenecks or issues and work with the appropriate people to resolve them
  • Help prioritize work based on deadlines, customer needs and production capacity
  • Follow up with employees, vendors, customers and other stakeholders as needed
  • Assist with documentation, order information and other administrative pieces connected to operations
  • Help develop, implement and improve processes as the company continues to grow
  • Take ownership of problems and help drive them through resolution
  • Jump into other areas when needed—as is often the case in a smaller manufacturing business
What We're Looking For:

The ideal person brings a combination ofoperations, project coordination and people skills.

Experience within metal fabrication would certainly be valuable, not required.

We'd like to find someone with:

  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, industrial operations or a similar environment
  • Strong project management, coordination and organizational skills
  • An understanding of how work moves through a production or manufacturing environment
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong communication and follow-through
  • Comfort working directly with both shop-floor employees and office/leadership teams
  • The ability to identify problems, ask the right questions and help drive solutions
  • A willingness to learn the technical side of the business
  • Confidence working independently without needing everything mapped out for you
  • A team-first mentality and willingness to wear different hats when necessary
Who Will Thrive Here?

Someone who naturally wants to know what's happening, what's next and what could get in the way. You might currently be an Operations Coordinator, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Production Coordinator, Assistant Operations Manager—or have another title entirely.

We're less concerned about the title you've held and more interested in whether you can walk onto a shop floor, understand what's happening, communicate effectively with the people doing the work, head back into the office and help coordinate everything necessary to keep the operation moving. If you're organized, approachable, accountable and enjoy being part of the day-to-day workings of a smaller manufacturing business, this could be a really interesting opportunity.
