Reporting to the Chief Arts Education Officer - Head of School, the Facilities and Equipment Operations Manager provides leadership and oversight for the space and equipment functions of the Patel Conservatory. The position supervises the Education Operations Supervisor and part-time space and equipment assistants, ensuring efficient facility and equipment support for Conservatory classes, productions, camps, events, and daily operations. This manager collaborates with Conservatory leadership and Straz Center departments to maintain efficient set up of performance spaces, classrooms and studios and support the Conservatory's educational and artistic mission.

Essential Functions:
Administrative:
  • Oversees the daily space and equipment functions of the Patel Conservatory
  • Supervises the Education Operations Supervisor and part-time space and equipment assistants.
  • Provides leadership, training, scheduling, and support for the space and equipment team.
  • Oversees the Conservatory Master Calendar and space utilization in collaboration with departmental leadership.
  • Maintains and assists in the development of departmental operational procedures and standard operating practices.
  • Coordinates operational needs between the Patel Conservatory and Facilities, Security, Production and other Straz Center departments.
  • Supports the Chief Arts Education Officer with operational planning, departmental initiatives, budget planning, and special projects around space and equipment uses and needs.
  • Monitors departmental records, documentation, and operational reporting
  • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow.
Operations:
  • Oversees space and equipment support for Conservatory classes, camps, productions, performances, and special events.
  • Coordinates facility usage, classroom scheduling, rehearsal space needs, and operational logistics
  • Ensures appropriate staffing and operational coverage for Conservatory activities.
  • Supports long-range planning for seasonal programming and special events.
  • Oversees equipment allocation and operational readiness in coordination with the Education Operations Supervisor.
Leadership:
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the Education Operations Supervisor and part-time space and equipment assistants.
  • Assigns work priorities and monitors operational workflow
  • Assists with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations of assigned staff
  • Promotes collaboration and effective communication across the Conservatory and Straz Center departments
General:
  • Assists in departmental functions and special events and performs other duties when necessary to ensure the overall smooth operation of the department.
Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of administrative or facilities experience in a performing arts, nonprofit, educational, or related environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with performing arts education or theater operations preferred
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • Self-motivated with strong administrative, organizational, and leadership skills, along with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with tact, diplomacy, and discretion while interacting positively with staff, faculty, students, parents, and management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and operational planning preferred
  • Must be able to pass a Level 2 background check.
