Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts is seeking an Operations Leader to assist the Distribution Center Manager in directing day-to-day inbound and outbound operations across a single distribution center in Saraland, AL. • Lead and support supervisors and hourly team members while promoting accountability and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards across DC functions.
• Monitor metrics and staffing, labor planning, scheduling, and workload distribution to meet objectives.
• Coordinate staffing, labor planning, scheduling, and workload distribution to meet productivity and service objectives.
• Oversee budget-related activities: expenses, payroll, and operating costs while supporting objectives.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management as needed.
• Maintain inventory control, shipping/receiving, and warehouse operations; drive improvements in workflow and cost control.

Job description

Responsible for assisting the Distribution Center Manager in directing the day-to-day inbound and outbound operations of a single distribution center. Supports all operational areas including service, productivity, inventory integrity, team member development, budgeting, safety, and compliance. Provides leadership to supervisors and hourly team members while driving operational efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement across the distribution center.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily inbound and outbound operations, including service levels, operational performance, inventory integrity, and team member productivity.
• Lead and support a staff of supervisors and hourly team members while promoting accountability, engagement, and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with O’Reilly policies, operational procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements throughout all distribution center functions.
• Monitor operational metrics and workflow performance to identify improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate staffing, labor planning, scheduling, and workload distribution to meet productivity and service objectives.
• Partner with supervisors to monitor departmental expenses, labor utilization, payroll, and operating costs while supporting budget objectives.
• Assist with the development and execution of annual operational goals, action plans, and performance initiatives for managed function.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management activities when needed.
• Conduct timely performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development to supervisors and hourly team members.
• Ensure inventory control processes, product handling procedures, shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations are executed accurately and efficiently.
• Review operational processes and recommend improvements to enhance workflow efficiency, service performance, and expense control.
• Maintain a safe work environment by aggressively managing risk, enforcing safety procedures, and addressing unsafe conditions or behaviors promptly.
• Utilize warehouse management systems and operational reporting to support planning operational execution.
• Communicate effectively with the General Manager, supervisors, and team members regarding operational priorities and expectations.
• Promote a culture based on O’Reilly culture values and continuous improvement throughout the distribution center.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Education/Experience

Required:

• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and team development skills.
• Experience leading supervisors and large hourly workforces.
• Ability to drive accountability, continuous improvement, and operational consistency across multiple functions.
• 2+ years of leadership experience in distribution center or warehouse operations with a proven record of success.

Desired

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), labor management systems, and operational analytics tools.
• Proficiency in one or more additional languages.
