Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia seeks an Operations Manager to oversee daily hospital operations across Retail, Patient Services, Catering and Production. You will supervise staff, manage schedules, and ensure a compliant, efficient, safe facility aligned with regulatory standards.

Collaborating with the Director of Nutrition Services, you’ll drive cost control, quality, and service excellence while advancing departmental goals in a mission-driven health system.

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting Augusta Health’s mission and advancing departmental goals through measurable performance indicators and service excellence. This position contributes to a collaborative, patient-centered environment and helps drive outcomes aligned with organizational priorities.

The Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day operational oversight and maintaining a safe, sanitary, efficient operation in accordance with federal, state, local health regulations, and all standards set forth by accreditation agencies. This position is responsible for supervision of staff in the following areas: Retail, Patient Services, Catering, and Production. These duties include review and oversight of patient care programs, purchasing, food production, safety, sanitation, in-service education and review of scheduling. The Operations Manager works in conjunction with the Director of Nutrition Services in the daily management, planning, and growth of the department.

Essential Job Duties:

• Take the initiative to see that the facility is neat and well maintained.
  • As evidenced by monthly sanitation reports.
• Consistently directs work performances of supervisors and staff to attain effective utilization of the labor force and ensure adherence to established standards of operation.
  • As evidenced by proper scheduling, control of overtime, and timely completion of tasks.
• Always utilizes food production procedures and planning systems to ensure maximum value is received from the food resources.
  • As evidenced by the proper use of recipes, production, and inventory systems.
• Collects and records quality control data based on the department plan. Assists Dietitians with Quality Assurance data collection as requested.
  • As evidenced by completion of monthly, quarterly, and yearly plans.
• Communicates effectively with the Nutrition services staff and all departments within the organization.
  • As evidenced by in-service, staff meetings, and completed assignments.
• Develops the skill of supervisors to enhance teamwork and improve skill levels within the department.
  • As evidenced by the efficient management of the department.
• Maintains and uses accurate cost records to evaluate past, present and future plans.
  • As evidenced by the proper use of recipes, production, and inventory systems.
• Make recommendations and suggestions to the Director for any special projects that benefit the department and the institution.
  • As evidenced by planning and completing at least 4 projects per year.
• Plans and produces special events and activities to break the monotony in the cafeteria and patient line.
  • As evidenced by at least 2 events per month.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Licensure/Certification: None
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare nutrition services management.
• Driver’s License: Yes. To drive an Augusta Health Vehicle, must also be 21 years old and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must be approved by Risk Management.
• Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: At least two years of college.
• Licensure/Certification: None.
• Experience: None.
• Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with Augusta Health’s systems, workflows, or organizational culture is a plus.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be proficient in all areas of Nutrition management.
• Is competent in all equipment used in Nutrition Services.
