POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recycling Center Operations Manager oversees recycling and post-collection activities within a business unit. They manage a team of supervisors, dispatchers, clerks, drivers, sorters, helpers, and equipment operators to ensure efficient operations. Working closely with the General Manager, the manager executes local marketing strategies for commodities, aligns with overall strategic goals, and implements initiatives to enhance operational excellence and budget performance. The role includes ensuring safety, compliance with regulations, maintaining contracts, and leading change management to foster growth and sustainability.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide leadership and management oversight for recycling and post-collections operations.
2. Manage staff hiring, training, coaching, performance, safety issues, and claims resolution.
3. Implement operational plans aligned with strategic and tactical initiatives to enhance customer experience and profitability.
4. Drive operational plans to meet or exceed budget and strategic goals for growth, customer satisfaction, and service objectives.
5. Ensure safety, compliance, and P&L objectives are met in recycling operations.
6. Maintain contract and permit compliance, utilizing advanced technology to reduce residue.
7. Coordinate commodity production with inbound volume and market conditions, adjusting resources as needed.
8. Collaborate with the General Manager on sales strategies and market development for commodities.
9. Oversee safety and accident prevention programs, fostering a safe work environment.
10. Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, regulatory, and ethical standards.
11. Manage budgets, approve expenses, purchase orders, and vendor negotiations.
12. Develop a high-performance team and promote a positive workplace culture.
13. Build relationships with government, community, and environmental groups.
