Overview

As an Operations Manager (OM), you play a pivotal role in the continuous improvement and overall success of the respective sector. The OM is directly responsible for ongoing performance, long-term and near-term improvement initiatives, and the transformation of their sector into a regionally elite operating team as Airspace matures and grows. The OM must work closely across all departments at Airspace and with our various customers and partners in their region (EU, APAC, US, etc.). Because of this, the OM must be adept at managing teams in different time zones and schedules and effectively coaching team members while not always in person.

Responsibilities

Must be able to understand all Responsibilities included in the Operations Specialist III Job Description and perform all Responsibilities in the Supervisor Job Description.

Sector Ownership
  • Act as the highest escalation level and point of contact for all operations performance within your sector (ad hoc or daily; address sector- or customer-level trends)
  • Monitor, comprehend, and act on daily, weekly and monthly performance trends through coaching or feedback
  • Assist and hands-on with the sector team to ensure frontline is supported and customers receive industry-leading service
  • Represent your Operations sector in major customer milestone meetings and provide support to Revenue teams as the operations expert
  • Work with Revenue teams to set standards and monitor SOPs and customer-specific solutions
  • Lead with Network, R&D, Finance and other departments on customer-specific solutions outside of a normal scope
  • Participate in internal deployment prep calls and client deployment calls
  • Define sector-specific Standard Work and operational requirements for high-quality service
  • Collaborate with Network to design client-fit solutions during deployment/onboarding
  • Identify risks and operational challenges; provide regional expertise during customer RFPs
  • Define and set benchmarks for KPIs relevant to the sector
  • Report on sector performance through updates and live meetings
  • Oversee headcount, hiring, firing, and compensation/level requirements for the sector
  • KPI ownership, trend resolution, and process improvement on an account level
  • Assist in new client onboardings with support from Directors or Senior Managers
Team Management
  • Hold routine touchpoints with Supervisors and set priorities for each individual based on needs and KPI progress
  • Define personal performance goals for sector leaders aligned with OKRs and service improvements
  • Define and manage a predefined rhythm of the business to align leaders on priorities
  • Maintain a 24/7/365 coverage schedule for operations
  • Assist in the recruitment pipeline in partnership with sector Directors and People Team
  • Direct resources across Airspace sectors to address supply-demand imbalances
  • Coach team members on quality and organized communication
  • Plan and facilitate new hire onboarding and ensure systems and certifications are in place
Continuous Improvement
  • Scope, lead or supervise initiatives that support company OKRs and sector performance
  • Create rollout plans to implement new processes and drive adoption
  • Identify opportunities for new services or certifications and drive execution with leadership approval
  • Coach and develop contributors and managers on technical and operational skills
  • Maintain balance of operational efficiency and service quality, proposing improvements
Cross Departmental Collaboration
  • Build strong cross-department relationships and involve other teams to solve large problems
  • Partner with Finance to track missing invoicing information and improve Gross Margin
  • Hold regular cadences with Sales and Account Management to understand needs during high-value revenue motions
  • Hold regular cadences with Driver Operations and/or Network to understand needs and support
  • Partner with Quality Assurance for live-operational support, shipment reviews and corrective action plans
Compensation
  • Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000
  • Bonuses based on sector performance
