Primary Purpose

Within a business unit, the Operations Manager is to manage team responsible for providing manufacturing support services including, but not limited to, waste consulting, data management, invoice consolidation and procurement services. The position manages a team of Supervisor's, Account Representatives, Material Handlers, and Coordinators. The Operations Manager works with his or her General Manager and other Managers in the business unit to create programs and management tools to allow for successful employee and company growth.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management.
  • Develop supervisory goals and objectives; and effective resolution of customer complaints.
  • Serve as the key point of contact and escalation for customers at the corporate level.
  • Ensure maximum productivity by continuously analyzing account team for adequate staffing based on customer and contract demands.
  • Champion the execution of tactical initiatives within the business unit to maximize customer experience, growth and durability, while optimizing profit.
  • Participate in new customer contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Prepare regular operational performance reviews for internal leadership.
  • Prepare & present corporate customer updates on a regular basis.
  • Balance customer contract requirements and company profit initiatives.
  • Meet with new and existing supplier partners to discuss and negotiate opportunities.
  • Preparation of annual budget for client's waste management activities.
  • Monitor adherences to budget and negotiate changes with clients when needed.
  • Oversee effective safety and accident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable actions are taken to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Assist with escalated customer aging requests.
  • Review and advise in customer proposals prepared by account teams.
  • Develop a best-in-class team and workplace culture and effectively manage performance and talent development; drive best-practice sharing.
  • Foster lasting relationships with clients and supplier partners.
  • Travel throughout US Travel Requirements approximately 30%.

Education: High school or its equivalent required. Four year college degree preferred.

Experience: 4+ years' experience providing consultative solutions to clients required. 2+ years' experience managing others required. Experience in leading and implementing new initiatives. Experience balancing and delivering multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.

Knowledge and Abilities: Must possess a strong attention to detail. Strong time management skills. Excellent communication and relationship building skills. Must be comfortable building relationships in-person and remotely. Ability to solve problems and provide solutions with limited direction. Ability to write and review business proposals. Strong Microsoft and Excel skills. Sound knowledge and understanding of various federal, state, and local industry-related regulations. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
