Demonstrating our values of Innovation, Impact and Integrity, we strive for No Waste. No Hunger.

If you are ready to bring your expertise and innovation to a mission-driven organization, this is your moment.

Enter Second Harvest…

Think we’re just about redirecting food surplus? Think bigger.

Here’s why Second Harvest is your next career leap:

  • Pioneers in food rescue, we are a renowned leader in perishable food redistribution across Canada.
  • With a mission fueled by a no-waste, no-hunger ethos, we’re not just changing the game—we’re rewriting the rules.
  • Our strategic approach aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), making every day a step towards global change.

The Role:

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager (Western Canada), the Operations Manager (British Columbia) serves as Second Harvest’s primary community representative and operational lead in British Columbia. As the organization’s key regional ambassador, this role is responsible for building, maintaining and continuously improving on strategic relationships with non-profit partners and community stakeholders in British Columbia.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring surplus food reaches the communities that need it most. Working closely with our Food Recovery & Partnerships and Supply Chain & Logistics teams, the Operations Manager coordinates food distribution strategies for donations across the supply chain from large-scale agricultural and CPG, to store-level retail and foodservice. The Manager identifies and mobilizes recipient organizations for food donations and helps ensure food is efficiently and equitably distributed throughout British Columbia.

The Operations Manager will also lead initiatives that strengthen food access in rural and remote communities, including managing strategic food purchases and developing sustainable food distribution solutions in regions where access challenges are greatest.

Your Impact:

  • Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with non-profit organizations, community groups, Indigenous organizations, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the distribution of large-volume food donations across British Columbia. Collaborate with Food Recovery & Partnerships and Supply Chain & Logistics teams to ensure effective and timely food movement from donor to recipient.
  • Assess network capacity and identify opportunities to strengthen recipient readiness for large-volume food donations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand and strengthen Second Harvest’s network and community impact across the province.
  • As a regional ambassador for Second Harvest, engage with diverse audiences to deliver presentations and participate in speaking engagements with the goal of increasing awareness and engagement across British Columbia.
  • Conduct regular field visits to partners throughout British Columbia to assess needs, build relationships, and support operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities to grow Second Harvest programs and collaborate on special projects and new initiatives.
  • Assess capacity gaps and opportunities to improve our food rescue operations. Work cross functionally to identify issues and improvements to enhance our overall food rescue operations.
  • Oversee ongoing reporting and data collection to support continued growth and optimization.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

Who You Are:

  • Community-Minded Leader: You understand the challenges facing non-profit organizations and are passionate about strengthening communities through collaboration.
  • Relationship Builder: You develop trust quickly, cultivate meaningful partnerships, and enjoy working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic Problem Solver: You excel at navigating complexity and can develop practical solutions when balancing competing priorities and resource constraints.
  • Action-Oriented: Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional Communicator: You are comfortable presenting to large audiences, engaging with media, and serving as a public representative of the organization.
  • Self-Motivated: You are comfortable working independently in a fully remote office environment, while still seeking support and clarity as needed.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within BC.

A Robust Compensation Package:

  • A competitive salary paired with a robust benefits package.
  • Comprehensive group insurance (health, dental, life, AD&D and Long-Term disability)
  • Employer match contributions (3%) to a Defined Benefit Pension Plan.

  • Access to parental leave top-up.
  • 4 weeks of annual vacation & 1 additional day per year of service (max 30).
  • 10 paid sick days & 3 personal days.
  • Summer Half-Days to further extend long weekends & Winter holiday closure.
