Job summary

Bolthouse Farms is seeking an experienced Operations Manager - Batching in Torrance, CA. This full-time role leads the Batching and Fermenting department, ensuring safety, quality, service and cost targets are met.

You will drive continuous improvement, supervise a hands-on team, and partner with planning to align production with demand. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in beverage manufacturing operations leadership, with hands-on supervision, budget experience, and strong Lean Six Sigma

Qualifications

  • 5+ years beverage manufacturing operations leadership.
  • 5+ years as a Food Production Supervisor with hands-on management.
  • Experience managing people and budgets.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of production personnel, fostering safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
  • Develop and coach team members through training programs focused on continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Manage performance and provide constructive feedback to achieve production goals.
  • Promote ownership and problem-solving; empower the team to implement improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement programs (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) to reduce waste, optimize processes, and lower costs.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for the operations department aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain a safety-first culture; ensure adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Oversee safety training programs for all staff.
  • Collaborate with Director of Production Planning to develop production schedules meeting customer demand within budget.
  • Coordinate with planning and procurement to ensure steady raw material flow.
  • Monitor timelines and address bottlenecks promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Establish and manage key operational metrics (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, OEE, Labor Efficiency, Yield, Inventory).
  • Lead monthly business reviews and report performance trends to leadership.

Operations Manager - Batching

Location: Torrance, CA • Full-Time Regular management role

What you will be responsible for in this role

We are seeking a charismatic and hands-on operations leader who takes full ownership of production outcomes and inspires teams to achieve best-in-class performance. This role leads the Batching and Fermenting department of the Torrance facility and emphasizes disciplined root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and excellence in safety, quality, service, and cost.

Job Duties
  • Leadership and Continuous Improvement
    • Lead and motivate a team of production personnel, fostering safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
    • Develop and coach team members through training programs focused on continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Manage performance and provide constructive feedback to achieve production goals.
    • Promote ownership and problem-solving; empower the team to implement improvements.
    • Lead continuous improvement programs (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) to reduce waste, optimize processes, and lower costs.
    • Develop and execute strategic plans for the operations department aligned with business objectives.
    • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Maintain a safety-first culture; ensure adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
    • Conduct safety audits, lead root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
    • Oversee safety training programs for all staff.
  • Production Planning and Scheduling
    • Collaborate with the Director of Production Planning to develop production schedules meeting customer demand within budget.
    • Coordinate with planning and procurement to ensure steady raw material flow.
    • Monitor timelines and address bottlenecks promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Quality Control and Customer Satisfaction
    • Develop and implement SOPs to ensure consistent product quality.
    • Establish and manage key operational metrics (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, OEE, Labor Efficiency, Yield, Inventory).
    • Lead monthly business reviews and report performance trends to leadership.
    • Use visual management and performance reviews to drive accountability.
    • Develop action plans to close performance gaps and meet annual targets.
    • Monitor customer feedback and drive improvements in product quality and satisfaction.
  • Technical Expertise and Manufacturing Excellence
    • Provide clear technical instructions for operation and maintenance of production equipment.
    • Collaborate with maintenance on preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement; implement cost-saving initiatives and KPI reporting for improvement timelines.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in beverage manufacturing operations leadership.
  • 5+ years as a Food Production Supervisor with hands-on management.
  • Experience managing people and budgets.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Food Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record of leading production teams to high performance and continuous improvement goals.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma), and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety regulations in beverage manufacturing.
  • Ability to develop and implement SOPs and training programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making and urgency.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high-speed bottling and canning lines
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
