The Area Manager will ensure that recycled materials are processed efficiently while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, production, environmental compliance, customer service, and cost control. The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader who understands recycling, aggregates, crushing and screening, heavy equipment, production, safety, and team development . Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day recycling operations across assigned P&K Stone locations.
- Lead, coach, and develop plant operators, drivers, maintenance personnel, and other operational employees.
- Establish and monitor production goals, operational KPIs, and financial targets.
- Ensure recycling operations meet or exceed productivity, quality, and profitability objectives.
- Coordinate the processing, sorting, crushing, screening, and stockpiling of recyclable aggregate and stone materials.
- Monitor material inventory, production volumes, product quality, and customer requirements.
- Manage equipment utilization and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime and improve reliability.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, company policies, and applicable local/state requirements.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and operational audits.
- Identify and correct unsafe work practices and environmental risks.
- Manage labor, fuel, equipment, and other operating expenses within established budgets.
- Analyze operating costs and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Coordinate transportation, hauling, and material movement as required.
- Work with sales, dispatch, customers, and other departments to ensure reliable product availability and service.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, maintenance, and safety records.
- Evaluate operational performance and implement continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure planning, and equipment replacement decisions.
- Support the opening, expansion, or improvement of recycling operations and facilities.
- Ensure all employees are properly trained and follow established operating procedures.
- Investigate operational incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Travel between assigned facilities and job sites as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience inrecycling, aggregates, quarrying, construction materials, crushing/screening, or related heavy-industrial operations.
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of aggregate processing, crushing, screening, material handling, and recycling operations.
- Experience managing heavy equipment and industrial production environments.
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety and environmental compliance.
- Ability to read and understand production, financial, and operational reports.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple facilities, projects, and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational/maintenance management systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between operating locations.
- Ability to work outdoors and in challenging weather and industrial conditions.
