In this high-autonomy position, you will develop procedures to optimize inbound/outbound flow, ensure safety and quality, and lead a team toward operational excellence at our Ohio facility.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety, accuracy, and quality; manage staffing and scheduling.
  • Coordinate flow of reserve inventory and replenishment cycles.
  • Manage daily receiving and loading schedules; ensure on-time fulfillment.
  • Hire, orient, train, and develop associates; conduct disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Prepare statistics and reports for functional areas.

General Summary

General Summary The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all distribution center operations, including receiving, reserve storage, replenishment, order selection, loading, shipping, and outbound documentation processes. This role ensures production, service, and operational goals are achieved through effective workforce planning, scheduling, and resource management. The manager develops, implements, and evaluates procedures that support the efficient flow of merchandise across inbound and outbound operations while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, safety, and productivity. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Warehouse Operations Manager exercises sound judgment in establishing priorities, determining objectives, and implementing solutions to complex operational challenges. Assignments are often self-directed, with performance measured by the achievement of organizational goals, operational efficiency, and adherence to schedules. This position champions Dollar Tree’s store-focused culture by delivering exceptional service to internal customers and supporting the company’s values, commitment to customer satisfaction, sales growth, and operational excellence.

An Operations Manager at Dollar Tree is responsible for:

  • Managing the development, implementation, and administration of operational policies, programs, and systems within functional areas.
  • Establish methods and procedures for departmental work activities; identify and resolve operational problems; and communicate expertise and approvals concerning departmental activities.
  • Monitor, assess, manage, and make recommendations to key productivity indicators, such as financial, productivity, service, and people goals in order to reduce and control costs.
  • Ensure accuracy, housekeeping, merchandise damage minimization, and safety through monitoring and enforcement of company requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate the receipt of merchandise include the unloading and checking of merchandise. Monitor loads to ensure merchandise in unloaded according to priority designation.
  • Coordinate and manage the flow of reserve inventory from receiving dock to reserve locations. Monitor reserve areas to ensure the orderly storage of merchandise.
  • Coordinate and manage replenishments cycles of the operation to assure the timely restocking of primary pick locations.
  • Establish and monitor the daily receiving schedule and prioritize ensuring priorities are adhered to and resources are utilized properly to control cost in order to meet market demands.
  • Coordinate and manage the filling of store orders, including the selection of orders, merge operations, loading of trailers and all related paperwork. Monitor loads to ensure merchandise is loaded according to quality standards.
  • Coordinate and manage the flow of all order selection functions from primary pick locations to final close of outbound loaded trailers. Monitor load quality to assure load stability on outbound deliveries.
  • Assist in the coordination and managing of the replenishment cycles of the operation to assure the timely restocking of primary pick locations.
  • Establish and monitor the daily selecting and loading schedule and ensure schedules are adhered to and resources are utilized properly to control cost in order to meet market demands.
  • Hire, orient, train, evaluate, and develop associates.
  • Carry out disciplinary actions or recommend termination of employment as appropriate.
  • Share and provide appropriate information and anticipate information needs of all distribution center associates.
  • Prepare various statistics and reports for functional areas.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or logistics preferred.
  • Minimum of four years distribution center management, operations experience or equivalent.
  • Good working knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical ability to gather and interpret information and develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills; Ability to lead by example, mentor, develop, and foster a team environment are essential.
  • Strong ability to lead/coach associates towards professional success
  • Requires rapid and thorough independent decision making and creative problem‑solving skills, good judgment as well as the ability to accept personal and departmental accountability for areas of responsibility.
  • PC skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. Working knowledge of WMS System
  • Must be able to continuously walk the Distribution Center floor for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to lift or move 60 lbs. (may be more frequent during cycle counts or physical inventories)
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts
  • Less than 10% overnight travel Desired Qualifications - Desired but not required. Bilingual (Spanish) Computer Skills: Software: Microsoft Office Application proficiency, WMS, Retek, Radio Frequency (RF), Manhattan, AS400 or Catalyst.
