Qualifications

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or related setting.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing plant environment with variable conditions.
  • Experience in employee performance and change management.
  • Experience shaping business improvement strategies that deliver results.

  • Champion a culture of injury-free, incident-free operations using PBM principles.
  • Optimize production processes with MPO Process System for efficiency and value.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing operations team and manage change.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and strategic reviews using data-driven decisions.
  • Apply Lean tools and RCA to identify opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Foster ownership and accountability across all levels and promote proactive maintenance.
  • Develop job plans and ensure reliable operations through workflow systems.

Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking an Operations Manager at the Tay l o r s v i l le, MS Plywood location. As Operations Manager, you will drive operational excellence, safety, and team development at our plywood manufacturing facility. You’ll lead a dynamic team, set a vision for safety and performance, and advance Georgia-Pacific’s goals through continuous im pro vement and a commitment to Principle-Based Management®.

What You Will Do
  • Champion a culture of injury-free, incident-free operations by modeling and reinforcing Georgia-Pacific’s Consistently apply PBM® principles in all aspects of operations.
  • Optimize pro duction pro cesses using the Machine Paced Operation (MPO) Pro cess System. Strive for efficiency, reliability, and maximum value creation for the business.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing operations team. Facilitate team growth, conduct regular performance reviews, and manage change to ensure team alignment and engagement.
  • Oversee facility financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic reviews. Use data to drive business decisions and achieve key performance objectives .
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and preventive/predictive maintenance planning to identify opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Build a culture of ownership by recognizing contributions, addressing missed opportunities, and ensuring accountability at all levels.
  • Fully utilize work pro cess systems to develop job plans, monitor completion, and pro mote pro active maintenance and reliability initiatives.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in industrial, manufacturing, or military environments
  • Pro ficient in MS Word and Excel; able to quickly learn new pro duction/operations software
  • Willingness and ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment (noisy, temperature variable)
  • Pro ven experience in employee performance management and change management
  • Experience formulating business im pro vement strategies that achieve results
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, wood science, industrial management, or a related field
  • Prior experience in Lean Manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Experience in wood pro ducts or similar manufacturing environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude in an industrial setting
