Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials NA is seeking a warehouse leader to direct the operation, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to Lean/6S standards. The role emphasizes enforcing procedures, managing maintenance, and coordinating with management to meet customer expectations.

Willingness to travel up to 90% and weekend flexibility is required. The candidate will partner with Plant Managers to set goals, mentor staff, and ensure on-time shipping.

Qualifications

  • 4 year degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with labor relations, safety programs, ISO standards, Lean practices.
  • Leadership training in strategic planning, finance, and time management.
  • PC literacy with standard office productivity software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct warehouse operations to ensure efficient, safe, and orderly performance.
  • Enforce safety and Lean/6S initiatives; ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and uptime while maximizing availability.
  • Collaborate with Plant Manager/Department Leader on goals and performance.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and discipline warehouse staff as needed.
  • Travel to sites as required; communicate progress on safety, shipments, and 6S.

Job Summary

Provide leadership and direction to insure the continual, efficient, and uniform operation of warehouse which will meet or exceed customer expectations in a safe and orderly manner. Enforce existing or develop and implement new plans coordinated with branch and corporate management to increase the reliability and continually improve the quality and efficiencies of the products and services provided by the business, while ensuring that policies, procedures, and standards are in conformance with company goals.

Job Description

This position will require travel up to 90% of the time as well as weekend flexibility.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all functional areas of the company work within a culture of continual improvement in support of corporate 6S and Lean initiatives.
  • Execute and enforce plans and procedures to insure the safety of all employees and visitors at our facilities.
  • Ensure operations and equipment is in compliance to corporate guidelines and OSHA Standards.
  • Ensure that preventive and corrective action methods are followed to eliminate or correct procedures and practices which do not meet customer requirements.
  • Correct/clarify incorrect operational procedures.
  • Communicate and monitor progress towards company safety, returns and allowances, and on time shipment and 6S/Lean directives.
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment purchases to enhance quality, capabilities and productivity.
  • Manage maintenance of equipment to provide maximum availability and minimum down time.
  • Work with the Plant Manager or Department Leader to establish goals, assess competency and direct operational output.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and discipline warehouse employees if requested or as required.
  • Purchase or direct the purchase of necessary warehouse supplies to ensure the ability to comply with written work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Frequent communication with Plant Managers and/or site Operations Representatives.
  • Travel/visit to each site as required.
  • Assist with customer problems, including on site visits where necessary.
  • Attend regional and corporate meetings when required.
  • Perform employee reviews as required or requested.
  • Other operational duties as requested by Plant Manager.
  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • 4 year degree (Business or Engineering discipline) / working towards or equivalent work/life experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in labor relations, safety programs, ISO standards, Lean practices and sale functions.
  • Training in leadership skills, team building, motivation, strategic planning, finance and time management.
  • PC literacy including competency with standard office automation and productivity software.
  • Communication and Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with all levels of our organization.
