PURPOSE OF POSITION

Plans and directs all the activities of Production. Assists senior management with current and future business planning. Creates a team environment that supports creativity, growth, and innovation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

General

  1. Maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, and the local community.
  2. Work as part of the team and collaborate with co-workers and colleagues.
  3. Responsible for reading, understanding, and following all Manufacturing Instructions (MI’s) or Work Instructions (WI’s) for each function performed.
  4. Responsible for working in compliance with safety and all other training.
  5. Adheres to and supports QMN’s Corporate Policies and Procedures.

Production

  1. Directs the formation of a manufacturing process that complies with established internal documentation.
  2. Sets standards for service and performance and monitors output. In coordination with appropriate manager, helps in the collaboration of manpower, budgets, and other resource plans.
  3. Manages the capital assets and equipment justifications and acquisitions within the scope of the Operations department.
  4. Recommends and approves acquisition of all production equipment making sure all purchases are justified according to ROI or growth objectives.
  5. Oversees all processes used by Production personnel and evaluates alternate methods to improve throughput while reducing manpower requirements.
  6. Reviews space needs, along with floor plan layout, to support company growth plans.
  7. Directs the communication of all production inventory plans to other departments.
  8. Ensures that sales department inventory and service targets are met.

Production Planning

  1. Ensures the preparation and implementation of production inventory plans according to sales forecasts.
  2. Ensures the implementation of multi-level materials requirements planning.
  3. Directs capacity planning of all machinery, equipment, and personnel.

Warehouse/Shipping/Receiving

  1. Follows physical inventory guidelines set by the Accounting Department.

Quality Systems

  1. Ensures all raw materials and components are inspected in a timely manner and meet established quality specifications.
  2. Ensures all finished product is appropriately tested according to established procedure and released for shipment to customers in a timely manner.
  3. Ensures all vendor corrective actions are documented and followed up on for implementation.
  4. Audits vendors according to established internal procedure.
  5. Directs the development and implementation of a quality plan for ISO certification for QMN product(s) including development of procedures, launch, and ongoing support.
  6. Provides technical assistance, as needed, to all other departments within QMN.

Budgeting

  1. Ensures adherence to annual budget of Operations department(s).

Supervision

  1. Responsible for the training of Operations employees in the performance of their jobs and providing feedback.
  2. Responsible for performing all supervisory functions of hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and approving employee-related transactions.

Safety

  1. Maintains a safe work environment through safety training for employees, identifying hazards in the workplace and correcting them, and providing discipline, when necessary, for violation of safety rules.
  2. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment by identifying all safety hazards and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
  3. Responsible for utilizing proper lifting and material movement techniques at all times.
  4. Responsible for ensuring all Operations employees are utilizing proper lifting and material movement techniques at all times.
  5. Responsible for ensuring all work-related injuries are reported to Human Resources.

Process Improvements

Actively works to improve processes in the company.

Performs all other related job duties as assigned by the Head of Operations.

DIRECTION RECEIVED

Works under the administrative direction of the Head of Operations.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides leadership and direction to Operations personnel.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience directing a manufacturing operation with some assembly experience.
  2. Knowledge of ISO requirements for the information technology industry a must.
  3. Must have proven supervisory and leadership abilities.
  4. Experience writing procedures according to applicable regulations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  1. B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).

JUDGMENT/REASONING ABILITY

Able to recognize and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment and diplomacy.
