We've been making our all-natural lip balms by hand in Idaho since 2014. We started with a formula inspired by nature, poured it by hand into the most beautiful tube we could dream up, and it's been true love ever since! Poppy & Pout products look beautiful on your shelf, but they're also kind to the environment. We never test on animals, every ingredient is 100% natural, and you can recycle our cardboard tubes when you've used them down to the last swipe.

About the Role

The Operations Manager runs daily operations at our Idaho Falls warehouse and leads our Production, Inventory, Shipping, Logistics, and R&D managers. You'll work from the plans and forecasts set by our Systems Director, set goals with each department, find and fix bottlenecks alongside the team, and make sure people and space are ready for what's coming. You'll also serve as Safety Officer and help build our white label and private label processes as that part of the business grows. This is the on‑site leader the team looks to, whether or not ownership is in the building.

What Success Looks Like
  • Orders ship accurately and on time across every channel
  • Launches are ready on the floor by launch day
  • Inventory counts are accurate, and no production run waits on packaging
  • Managers have clear goals and on‑time reviews
  • The warehouse is safe, organized, and audit‑ready

Targets are set from baselines established in your first 90 days.

What You'll Do
  • Hold regular 1:1s with each department manager and set quarterly goals (OKRs) together
  • Own performance reviews and raise recommendations, and help departments plan restructures
  • Co‑lead our weekly manager planning meeting with the Systems Director, and run regular sessions with team leads
  • Coach managers through conflicts and hard conversations, escalating sensitive matters to HR
  • Build team culture through recognition, team events, and a small rewards budget
  • Spend real time on the production and shipping floor each week
Day-to-Day Operations
  • Keep production on schedule and orders shipping accurately and on time
  • Make sure nothing ships before its launch or approved ship date, including coordinating product data with our Amazon partner
  • Get launches ready on the floor: inventory in sellable locations, bundles built, testers and kits set up, and orders checked after launch
  • Lead decisions on moving inventory between wholesale and retail, and flag low stock early
  • Set clear inventory expectations with ownership, sales, and major retail partners, and keep everyone updated as plans change
Inventory, Purchasing, and Planning
  • Make sure we have the product and packaging needed for the upcoming quarter, working from the Systems Director's demand and supply plan
  • Track upcoming orders that need product made, alongside sales and logistics
  • Make sure the right items are cycle counted often enough, especially limited editions close to selling out
  • Oversee packaging orders and overseas shipments with the Inventory Manager, from purchase order tracking to accurate receiving
White Label and Private Label
  • Run white label and private label orders from start to finish: setup, component tracking, pouring, labeling, packing, and on‑time shipping
  • Watch due dates on orders awaiting payment so nothing slips
  • Help build and document warehouse processes as this side of the business grows
Warehouse, Safety, and SOPs
  • Serve as Safety Officer and building point of contact: lead monthly safety checks, keep incident tracking current, and act as on‑site emergency contact when ownership is away
  • Manage facility issues, supplies, and space planning with the building manager and department leads
  • Write and standardize warehouse SOPs, and help other departments standardize and digitize theirs
  • Hit our quarterly shipping volume minimum to keep our negotiated USPS rate
What You Bring
Required
  • 3+ years in operations or production supervision, including leading managers in a production or warehouse setting
  • Comfortable setting goals and KPIs and managing day‑to‑day work through dashboards
  • Direct, constructive communicator and strong problem‑solver
  • Proven ability to coach managers, hold a team accountable, and build a positive floor culture
  • Able to juggle multiple departments and shifting priorities, especially during peak season
  • Comfortable using AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT to analyze data, build reports, and solve problems faster, or eager to learn
  • Hands‑on: you'd rather find the bottleneck on the floor than read about it
Preferred
  • Experience at a growing consumer goods company with retail, wholesale, and marketplace channels, including major retailer requirements and chargebacks
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent mid‑to‑senior‑level experience
  • Experience with ShipHero, Katana, Shopify, or similar systems
  • Experience with Google Workspace
  • Workplace safety or forklift certification
  • Experience building processes for white label or contract manufacturing
