Job description

Manufacturing Atlas Copco US – United States Houston

As a Production Manager at Atlas Copco's Houston Product Company, you will take on a pivotal leadership role, managing and optimizing the entire production lifecycle of compressed air and dryer packages. Your responsibility will encompass directing plant operations to ensure high productivity while upholding stringent quality guidelines and safety protocols.

You will lead the orchestration of manufacturing processes including but not limited to planning, assembly, testing, painting, and fabrication. Your collaboration with the Production Supervisor will be instrumental in harmonizing production schedules, resource deployment, and workflow sequences that meet labor demands and material availability with precision.

Your stewardship will include the development, management, and oversight of the annual operations budget. This will cover production throughput targets, logistical shipping considerations, cost containment, staffing plans, capital investments, and operational expenses, all aimed at aligning with the company’s strategic business goals.

Driving continuous improvement initiatives will be a core focus. You will champion lean manufacturing techniques, labor productivity enhancements, plant layout reorganizations, material flow optimization, and efficient equipment utilization practices. Your proactive approach will lead to increased operational efficiency and sustainable manufacturing excellence.

Cross-functional coordination with sales, marketing, and engineering teams will be essential to synchronize production capabilities with market requirements and customer demands without duplication of resources. Additionally, you will be accountable for maintaining and enhancing plant infrastructure integrity, ensuring long-term reliability and safety.

You will provide comprehensive production reporting, analyzing performance data to identify trends and variances from projections. Immediate corrective action plans will be implemented to address deviations and maintain alignment with established production and financial targets.

An unwavering commitment to fostering a safety-first culture is paramount, collaborating closely with Safety and Quality teams to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and promote a zero-incident environment under the Atlas Copco “Safety First” ethos. Facility security administration and additional assigned responsibilities will complete your role in supporting the company’s commitment to quality, environmental stewardship, employee health, safety, and resource efficiency.

  • Experience: You bring 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience managing manufacturing operations, demonstrating your ability to lead complex production workflows and diverse teams effectively.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent professional experience that equips you with a solid foundation in production management and operational strategy will also be highly regarded.
  • Skills: You exhibit a proactive and adaptable leadership style, motivating and empowering your team to achieve results. Exceptional organizational capabilities and attention to detail allow you to prioritize and manage multiple demands effectively.
