Job summary

The Operations Manager will lead a specialized team to plan, organize, and manage chemical loading, warehouse activities, and related operations in a safe, environmentally responsible and efficient manner at Columbus site.

We value hands-on leadership, problem solving, and a strong safety culture. The role requires outdoor work, multi-tasking, and collaboration with customers and railroads to ensure reliable, compliant operations and timely communications.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years management experience preferred.
  • 5+ years chemical loading experience preferred.
  • Able to work outdoors in various climates.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in budget prep, P&L management, and daily comms with customers and railroads to ensure safe operation.
  • Provide "Worry-free Consistency" service to customers on every shift.
  • Learn, implement, teach, and execute the S7 Operating System and 5S standards.
  • Build strong relationships with customer contacts and understand contracts and rate structures.
  • Delegate, manage time, and develop a business plan including budgeting, variance analysis, and cost control.
  • Promote a safety culture and personal responsibility for safe behaviors and environmental responsibility.
  • Lead proactively, coach, and reduce team turnover while maintaining professionalism.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and support operations to meet deadlines.
  • Set example of professionalism and customer service.
  • Hands-on leadership with operational and technical skills to ensure best practices.

Job Description

The Operations Manager will provide leadership and guidance to a specialized team in planning, organizing, and managing operations, ensuring chemical loading, warehouse activities, and related processes are performed in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner.

  • Participate in budget preparation, management of profit and loss, and daily communication withcustomers and railroads on scheduling and other issues to ensure smooth and safe operation.
  • Provide "Worry-free Consistency" service to the customers on every shift every day.
  • Learn, implement, teach, and execute the S7 Operating System and 5S standards.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customer contacts.
  • Ability to understand the customer contract and rate structure.
  • Ability to delegate and utilize time management well.
  • Ability to develop and execute a business plan. (including budgeting, projecting, variance analysis, and cost management)
  • Ability to promote a safety culture where each Team Member has the value and attitude that unsafebehaviors and conditions will not happen on their shift.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years management preferred.
  • 5+ years of chemical loading experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various climates.
  • Ability to work varying shifts dependent on operation and/or customer needs.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements for the position.
  • Ability to meet requirements of pre-employment screening including but not limited to background and criminal history check, drug & alcohol testing, MVR, physical/FCE, etc.
