Job summary

AMETEK Superior Tube Collegeville seeks an Operations Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations across multiple departments and shifts. You will coach production supervisors, drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Planning, and HR to advance continuous improvement.

The role requires 7+ years in manufacturing leadership, Lean/CI expertise, and the ability to manage production planning, budgeting, and labor in a union

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
• 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
• Experience leading production teams in a regulated or precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead through supervisors and drive accountability.
• Experience with production planning, KPI management, budgeting, and labor management in a union environment.
• Experience in metals, tubing, medical device, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations across multiple production departments and shifts.
• Drive safety culture and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Establish and monitor operational performance metrics including throughput, productivity, quality, on-time delivery, scrap, and labor utilization.
• Develop production plans and allocate resources to meet customer demand and business objectives.
• Lead and develop production supervisors, leads, and hourly employees to improve organizational capability and accountability.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve throughput.
• Partner with Engineering and Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and capacity.
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools to eliminate waste and improve operational effectiveness.
• Support annual operating plans and manage departmental spending within budget targets.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems and customer requirements.
• Participate in capital planning, production expansion projects, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Foster employee engagement and maintain positive employee relations in a manufacturing environment.

Job description

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations at the Superior Tube Collegeville facility. This position provides leadership to production supervisors and manufacturing teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality tubing products. The Operations Manager is accountable for achieving performance objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, inventory, and cost while driving continuous improvement throughout the operation.

The role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Planning, and Human Resources to support business growth, and operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations across multiple production departments and shifts.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience leading production teams in a highly regulated or precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and performance management systems.
• Proven ability to lead through supervisors and drive accountability at all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience with production planning, KPI management, budgeting, and labor management in a union environment.
• Experience in metals, tubing, medical device, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing environments preferred.
