Job summary

MEI Industrial Solutions is seeking an Operations Manager to support and manage day-to-day rigging/crating operations, ensuring efficient use of time, materials, and equipment while maintaining safety and quality. The role involves planning, directing, budgeting, and strategic input affecting operations at all levels.

You will lead department activities, coordinate resources, and work with vendors to keep materials and equipment ready.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education or certification helpful.
  • 3–5 years in construction/operations; crane industry experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory background preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across all staff levels.
  • Proficient with Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate department activities to ensure materials, labor, and equipment meet job or customer requirements.
  • Oversee administrative functions including training, onboarding, reporting, record-keeping, scheduling, dispatch, and logistics.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers so materials/equipment are ready and available when needed.
  • Establish and implement operational protocols including staffing, safety, information dissemination, or emergency procedures.
  • Set and oversee department goals with managers, foremen, and the GM.
  • Evaluate processes for compliance with laws, regulations, and specifications.
  • Act as coach/mentor for employee development; resolve conflicts.
  • Participate in job walks, equipment inspections, and budget reviews; provide guidance.
  • Represent MEI with external customers, vendors, agencies, and on-site contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)


  • High School diploma or equivalent necessary; higher education or vocational certification helpful but not required.

  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in construction, operations, industrial applications, or similar experience needed. Direct rigging and/or crane industry experience highly preferred.

  • Prior supervisory background or knowledge preferred.

  • Ability to view differing situations from several perspectives using deductive and/or inductive reasoning.

  • Communicates effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of staff.

  • Motivates others to perform work safely, efficiently, and with consideration of environment and materials to minimize waste and maximize resources.

  • Ability to make judgement calls, problem-solve, or act with limited information.

  • Intermediate use of a Windows-based computer system, including various software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, people, job sites, or resources simultaneously.



Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

This is very physical, hands-on work. An Operations Manager must be able to perform General Physical Activities — activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds. Willing and able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors in all types of weather, and over uneven ground or terrain. Frequent work sitting at a computer with use of keyboard/mouse. Will frequently use senses involving sight, sound, speech, or touch.
