Job summary

Hexcel Burlington is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead daily aerospace production at our Burlington, WA site. You will manage cross‑functional teams, drive safety culture, capacity planning, and continuous improvement to meet quality, delivery, and cost targets.

The role requires a strong background in lean methods, ERP/MES systems, and data analytics with the ability to mentor staff and align operations with Hexcel’s strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, aerospace, mechanical, or engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible Operations Management or related experience in aerospace.
  • MBA a plus; supervisory and job shop experience; strong communication and analytical skills; ERP/MES/Power BI proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and secure work environment.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and drive daily operations to meet production targets.
  • Support safety training and eliminate unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Develop processes that meet customer requirements while balancing cost, quality, delivery, safety.
  • Use LEAN and Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor, manage, report, and communicate plant capacity and resources.
  • Identify capital needs to support objectives across short, medium, and long horizons.
  • Set SMART objectives and link progress to plant and strategic goals.
  • Manage business objectives to meet strategic plans.
  • Communicate monthly and quarterly production targets, including deliveries and lateness.
  • Inspire and develop subordinates; build succession plans and talent pools.
  • Work daily with production personnel and promote strong employee engagement.
  • Lead operations in audits (AS9100, Nadcap, ISO) to ensure compliance.
  • Operate in compliance with Hexcel Burlington Quality System and Policy.
  • Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.

Job Summary

Hexcel is currently seeking an Operations Manager for our Burlington, WA location. The Operations Manager will lead cross‑functional teams, drive daily operations, ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production, and manage resources to meet business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and secure work environment.
  • Actively support and participate in monthly or plant refresher safety training, using available resources and prescribed goals to determine and help eliminate safety issues, unsafe acts, or conditions.
  • Focus on behavior‑based safety through leadership, observation programs, and proactive real‑time feedback and action.
  • Develop processes that fully meet customer requirements, balancing cost, quality, delivery, safety, and moral considerations.
  • Solve problems using cross‑functional teams and continuous improvement techniques such as LEAN and Six Sigma tools.
  • Effectively monitor, manage, report, and communicate plant capacity, including human and physical resources.
  • Identify capital needs to support operational objectives across short, medium, and long‑term horizons.
  • Establish SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time‑bound) objectives and monitor progress to link to plant and strategic goals.
  • Manage business objectives to meet strategic plans.
  • Prepare and communicate monthly and quarterly production targets, including deliveries and lateness.
  • Inspire, develop, and retain subordinates, creating a strong succession plan and talent pool.
  • Work daily with production personnel, emphasizing strong, positive employee engagement.
  • Lead operations in proactive participation in customer and industrial audits (e.g., AS9100, Nadcap, ISO) to ensure compliance.
  • Always operate in compliance with Hexcel Burlington Quality System and Quality Policy.
  • Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, aerospace, mechanical, or engineering from a four‑year college or university. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible Operations Management or related experience in the aerospace industry. MBA a plus. Previous supervisory experience and job shop experience required. Demonstrated logistics, materials, and supply chain experience preferred. Demonstrated lean implementation success. Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills and be able to work effectively across all areas of the business. Computer literacy includes proficiency in ERP, MES, Power BI, and the full Microsoft Office Suite, with strong data analytics using Excel macros.
