Job summary

Ryder is seeking an Operations Trainee in the United States. The role develops in transportation and logistics, offering fast growth, full benefits, 401k with match, PTO and employee discounts. Location is Columbia, MO with standard hours and a Monday–Friday schedule.

This program leads toward an Ops Supervisor role, with cross-functional exposure across Operations, Asset Management, Sales, Quality and Rental Management. Candidates should be coachable and eager to advance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • One year or more customer service with issue resolution experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality customer interface and proactive customer management for satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with rental to maximize utilization without compromising lease customers.
  • Partner with Sales on customer calls for new business and satisfaction.
  • Manage running costs and maintenance overheads and ensure policy adherence.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Asset Management, Sales and Marketing to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure PM scheduling, follow-ups, breakdowns and vehicle status updates; oversee technician planning.

Summary

The Operations Management Trainee will support the shop management process and assist in cost savings, customer retention, and metric-based initiatives. This requires the Manager Trainee to work cross functionally across Operations, Asset Management, Sales, Quality, and Rental Management. This program is fast-paced and touches every aspect of the business unit. In this role, you will acquire proven industry knowledge, skills and resources to develop your operations & fleet maintenance background. We allow you to carve out your own career path and promote from within, based on performance. The ideal path of progression in this role is an Ops Supervisor.

Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Schedule: Monday - Friday

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the customer relationship activities by providing quality customer interface, proactive customer management, issue resolution, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with the rental department to ensure maximum utilization without compromising lease customers.
  • Partner with Sales staff on customer calls for new business and increased customer satisfaction.
  • Manage running costs and maintenance overheads. Ensure policy and processes are followed to optimize running costs and maintenance overhead.
  • Accountable for coordinating with Maintenance, Asset Management, Sales and Marketing to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate PM scheduling and follow up, breakdowns and vehicle status updates; oversee Technician work planning for efficiency, training, and flexibility.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Relocation within the business unit at the conclusion of the training program is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation Information

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
