Overview

Job Description Summary: Salary: $18.00 per hour. The Operations Maintenance Worker IV will assist their respective operations department with cleaning and upkeep of district fleet/welding facilities, reservoirs/lakes, pipelines, ROW, and/or floodway.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vegetation maintenance, painting, and cleaning on pipelines, reservoirs/lakes, floodway, ROW or in operations facilities/property
  • Operate equipment such as skid steer/uni-loader or ag tractor
  • Utilize weed eaters, zero turn mowers and/or standard mowers
  • Build and/or paint fences
  • Operate chainsaws
  • Pull and park utility trailers to job sites
  • Pick up trash along ROW and/or floodway
  • May perform light welding, grinding, basic equipment upkeep/repair
  • May supervise day laborers
  • May be asked to work in confined spaces and/or on bodies of water such as lakes/reservoirs/rivers
  • May be asked to work extra hours such as weekends/evening as needed
  • Attend and participate in job related training, such as ag tractor, confined space, water safety, etc.
  • Maintain familiarity with strategic District levels of service
  • Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Experience
  • Prior experience using a weed eater and/or standard mower
  • Pulling and backing up utility trailers
  • Ability to perform one of the following: Operator a tractor, Grind, cut, or weld, Light fleet mechanical repairs
Desired Experience
  • Prior experience using a zero turn mower
  • Prior experience painting

  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas CDL Class A or B without restriction
  • E Tanker (N) endorsement
  • Hazmat (H) with Tanker (N) endorsement

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee typically resides out in the field for long periods of time exposing the employee to weather conditions prevalent at the time. They will periodically work in buildings without climate control. This position will also work in confined spaces, underground, in diches, on water ways such as lakes or rivers, and at various heights.
