Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking an O&M Tech I to operate and maintain equipment in a chemical/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.

The role emphasizes learning and independently operating pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, and related testing equipment; work outdoors in variable weather; and the ability to pass drug tests and background checks as required by site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Some related position experience preferred.
• Must be able to pass drug test and background check.
• English reading/writing comprehension required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment in a chemical/industrial facility.
• Learn and independently operate pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves and other equipment.
• Support testing equipment, instrumentation and material handling as needed.

Position Purpose:

The O&M Tech I operates and maintains equipment, de-watering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in chemical/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.
• Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and
• equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
• Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Work Environment:

• Job will require working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some experience in a related position and environment is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control.
• Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
• Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions). Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must demonstrate the abilityto work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

• Must possess a valid drivers license and a safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 40-50/Lb. bags while loading material in tanks.
