Job summary

Veolia in North America is seeking an O&M Tech I to operate and maintain equipment in a chemical/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.

Education: High School Diploma or GED. Must pass a drug test and background check, and be able to read/write English and perform basic math. Willingness to work outdoors and participate in an on-call schedule is required.

Qualifications

• Must pass drug test and criminal background check.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English and perform basic calculations.
• Must be able to operate equipment and learn process control software.
• Team-oriented with willingness to take on new responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment in a chemical/industrial facility.
• Meet processing quality targets and learn to operate pumps, engines and related devices.
• Work in a team and be available for 24/7 on-call rotation if required.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

The O&M Tech I operates and maintains equipment, de-watering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in chemical/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.
• Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and
• equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
• Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Work Environment:

• Job will require working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some experience in a related position and environment is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control.
• Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
• Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions). Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must demonstrate the abilityto work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

• Must possess a valid drivers license and a safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 40-50/Lb. bags while loading material in tanks.
