Job summary

Powers Management in Nashville seeks a Maintenance Mechanic II to join our Operations team. You will perform advanced building maintenance and complex mechanical troubleshooting across facility systems, including engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.

You will read architectural and mechanical drawings, use CAD for layout checks, and operate CMMS to manage work orders and PM schedules. The role requires 3–5+ years of experience and a high school diploma, with on-call duties

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; technical trade degree, vocational training, or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
• 3–5+ years of experience in general maintenance, mechanical repair, or industrial plant maintenance.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in small engine repair, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and advanced mechanical troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and blueprints.
• Proficiency or working knowledge of CAD software and CMMS tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced building maintenance and complex mechanical troubleshooting across facility equipment and building systems.
• Troubleshoot, service, maintain, and repair small engines, utility vehicles, ice resurfacers, industrial equipment, material moving equipment, and motorized machinery.
• Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Read, interpret, and work from architectural drawings, mechanical/electrical schematics, and blueprints.
• Utilize CAD for layout verification and drawing interpretation.
• Perform welding, metal cutting, and fabrication for facility repairs and modifications.
• Execute door and hardware repairs including access control integrations.
• Carry out carpentry, wall repairs, ceiling grid realignments, and finish carpentry tasks.
• Maintain etc. PM programs and log repair histories in CMMS.
• Respond to maintenance work orders during live events and off-hours; mentor Tier 1 mechanics.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Perform advanced building maintenance and complex mechanical troubleshooting across facility equipment and building systems.
• Troubleshoot, service, maintain, and repair small engines, utility vehicles, ice resurfacers, industrial equipment, material moving equipment, and motorized machinery.
• Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, and repair hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses) and pneumatic systems (compressors, air lines, control valves, actuators).
• Read, interpret, and work proficiently from architectural drawings, mechanical/electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and structural blueprints.
• Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for basic layout verification, facility drawing markups, and drawing interpretation.
• Perform intermediate to advanced welding, metal cutting, and custom fabrication for facility repairs, brackets, and equipment modifications.
• Execute advanced door and hardware repairs, including panic hardware overhaul, automatic door operators, and access control integrations.
• Perform intermediate/advanced carpentry, custom woodworking, structural wall repairs, picture/display mounting, and ceiling grid realignments.
• Inspect, overhaul, and repair stadium/bowl seating systems, retractable seating risers, and specialized staging hardware.
• Demonstrate advanced computer skills and proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to manage work order workflows, track PM schedules, and log equipment repair histories.
• Provide intermediate to advanced trade maintenance and diagnostics assistance for:
• Plumbing: Service water heaters, commercial sinks, faucets, toilets, flushometers, backflow assemblies, and main drainage systems.
• Electrical: Troubleshoot power circuits, motors, breakers, contactors, control switches, and lighting control panels.
• HVAC: Diagnostic checks on air handling units, belt/pulley replacement, damper controls, and thermostat adjustments.
• Painting & Carpentry: Perform high-finish carpentry, surface preparation, drywall repair, and coating applications.
• Perform advanced root-cause failure analysis on repeating equipment issues to implement long-term solutions.
• Conduct, maintain, and improve comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) programs for facility systems.
• Respond to maintenance work orders and emergency calls in a timely, decisive manner during live events and off-hours.
• Assist in mentoring Tier 1 mechanics and supporting special facility projects assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED required; technical trade degree, vocational training, or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
• 3–5+ years of experience in general maintenance, mechanical repair, or industrial plant maintenance.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in small engine repair, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and advanced mechanical troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and blueprints.
• Proficiency or working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with work order software systems (CMMS), spreadsheets, and digital maintenance tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively and lead multi-step diagnostic or maintenance projects.
• Able to work flexible hours; hours might include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to be on call for emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
• Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history, and be insurable by the Organization’s insurance carrier.
• Subject to a background check, including a criminal history check, driver history, and character references.

• Small engine diagnostic equipment and specialty automotive/power tools.
• Forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, skid steer, track loader, and other lift equipment.
• CAD software, CMMS work order platforms, computer terminals, and mobile devices.
