Job summary

Lightshift Energy in Arlington, VA, is seeking an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager to oversee the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of its asset portfolio.

You will lead day‑to‑day performance, manage internal and third‑party O&M providers, develop preventive maintenance programs, enforce safety standards, and collaborate with Engineering, Development, and Finance to support budgeting and lifecycle planning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of energy operations experience.
• Experience managing operating assets and vendors.
• Strong electrical/mechanical systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Own technical performance of Lightshift Energy’s operating assets.
• Monitor asset performance and drive corrective actions.
• Lead root cause analysis for outages and underperformance.
• Coordinate maintenance and manage third-party O&M providers.
• Review contractor JHAs and work plans; ensure compliance with codes and regs.
• Partner with Engineering, Development, and Finance teams to support budgeting and lifecycle planning.

Description of Role:

The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of Lightshift Energy’s operating asset portfolio. This role oversees day-to-day asset performance, manages internal and third-party O&M providers, and ensures compliance with contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

Asset Operations & Performance

• Own technical performance of Lightshift Energy’s operating assets.
• Monitor asset performance and drive corrective actions.
• Lead root cause analysis for outages and underperformance.

Maintenance Strategy & Execution

• Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
• Manage spare parts strategy.
• Manage third-party O&M providers and service contractors.
• Enforce SLAs and validate invoices.

Safety, Compliance & Risk

• Review and approve contractor JHAs and work plans.
• Ensure compliance with codes, permits, and regulations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Engineering, Development, and Finance teams.
• Support budgeting and lifecycle planning.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant energy operations experience.
• Experience managing operating assets and vendors.
• Strong electrical/mechanical systems knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BESS or distributed energy experience.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician License.

Salary range: $120,000 - $160,000;
