About the Role:
The N. America A&H Operations Lead will ensure efficient processing and support of various underwriting support activities and documents. This role involves coordinating daily operations, supporting underwriting teams, improving workflows, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services. The role will foster a collaborative environment, and ensures adherence to underwriting guidelines, compliance, and service standards. They will also be critical in deployment of technology that will drive further efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of underwriting assistants, ensuring accurate and timely processing of new business, renewals, endorsements, etc.
- Distribute and monitor workload, adjusting priorities based on business needs and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to new and existing team members on underwriting procedures, systems, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as a first point of escalation for operational issues or complex cases; resolve or escalate as needed to the Underwriting team.
- Review work for accuracy and completeness, ensuring documentation aligns with underwriting and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with underwriters, brokers, and agents to facilitate smooth processing and timely follow-ups.
- Assist with quality assurance reviews and support the implementation of process improvements and best practices.
- Prepare operational reports and dashboards to track productivity, accuracy, and service metrics.
- Support the onboarding of new tools, systems, or workflow enhancements within the underwriting operations environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a A&H Operations.
- Prior team lead or supervisory experience in an insurance environment required.
- Solid understanding of Accident & Supplemental Health products, coverages, and underwriting processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of A&H insurance documentation and workflow.
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
