Job summary

The School of Visual Arts in New York seeks a Director of Operations to oversee daily administrative and operational functions within the Humanities and Sciences department. Reporting to the Department Chair, you will coordinate logistics, payments, scheduling changes, and communications across the SVA community.

This full-time, onsite position requires a BA and 3–5 years in academic administration, with proficiency in Google Workspace, MS Office, and LMS.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS/BFA) required.
  • Experience: 3–5 years administrative experience in an academic department in higher education.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with PC/Mac, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and LMS.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison for students, faculty, advisors, and partners.
  • Process payments and manage office supplies, service calls, and events.
  • Submit faculty forms and assist onboarding of instructors.
  • Maintain faculty bios and update department channels and sva.edu.
  • Publish and update the H&S website and monthly bulletin.
  • Provide admin and curricular support to the ESL Chair and coordinate with Registrar's Office.
  • Assist with curriculum development, faculty development, student programming, and college-wide initiatives.
  • Support data collection for operations, projects, and accreditation reviews.
  • Manage classroom logistics and event support as needed.
  • Handle mail, records, and other duties.
