Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assist supervisors with necessary paperwork and manage collection routes during supervisor’s absence.
  2. Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all collection routes.
  3. Engage employees to foster a safe and energetic work environment through feedback and recognition.
  4. Enforce Athens Services safety rules and regulations, reporting unsafe situations to the supervisor or manager.
  5. Assist with preparation of daily routes, route changes, vehicle replacements, dispatch duties, and other assigned tasks.
  6. Assist with training and evaluation of personnel.
  7. Ensure new employees are trained on policies and proper equipment use.
  8. Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
  9. Train and re-train new and current employees.
  10. Assist supervisors with route observations.
  11. Handle special projects and other management duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of operations experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Federal DOT, and related regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements with or without accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree.
  • Class A / B Commercial Driver’s License.
Physical & Environmental Demands

Physical: Problem solving, communication, analytical skills, organization, and physical activity including climbing, standing, walking, typing, handling, balancing, bending, crouching, kneeling, pushing, reaching, sitting, and wrist motion. Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperatures, and electrical hazards. Works indoors and outdoors.

Compensation & Schedule

Hourly Wage Range: $26.80 - $30.90/hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 am - 2:00 pm, with overtime and weekends as needed.
