Job summary

Aurora is seeking an Operations Lead for Centralized Autonomous Vehicle Operations based in Coppell, Texas. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of operators who monitor and guide autonomy performance, shaping Aurora's capabilities and scaling our commercial operations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of people leadership in a 24/7 environment.
  • Experience staffing and planning managers for an hourly workforce.
  • Deep understanding of Command Center functions including remote assistance, dispatch, mission control, triage, and quality audits.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, incident management proficiency, and high-risk operational experience.
  • Ability to prioritize objectives from ambiguous mission requirements to maximize team and asset utilization.
  • Safety focus in high-risk environments and experience with emergency response and managing multiple large-scale operations.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management System (LMS) tools and training program scaling.
  • Experience with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations as they pertain to remote fleet operations.
  • Proven track record of leading through ambiguity to set clear objectives for geographically disparate teams.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts as needed, and regular extended shifts and some weekends.
  • Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Command Center leads and operators across multiple locations.
  • Balance company goals, operational risk, and ambiguous environments to deliver safe results.
  • Direct and provide tactical leadership for a multidisciplinary team of Command Center operators across multiple locations and shifts to ensure mission success.
  • Oversee lane monitoring, L2 triage, commercial optimization, and incident responses, balancing operational risk with business objectives.
  • Design and direct shift briefings to communicate essential Aurora initiatives, daily software changes, and operational updates to ensure alignment at every level.
  • Track, assimilate, and report on KPIs for business reviews, providing strategic oversight of program successes and efficiency gains.
  • Develop and drive your team by building on individual strengths to ensure continuous growth for scaled operations.
  • Act as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for key Aurora initiatives as they pertain to the Command Center.
  • Curate a culture of ownership by leading by example and managing cross-functional collaboration with a "Win Together" mindset.
  • Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora.

What we are looking for

Aurora is searching for an Operations Lead for Centralized Autonomous Vehicle Operations based in Coppell, Texas. This person will lead a multidisciplinary team of operators who play a crucial role in monitoring and guiding the autonomy performance of vehicles on the road. This position is critical in developing Aurora's capabilities and scaling our commercial operations.

The role requires effective cross-functional communication with developers, dispatch operations, and vehicle operations. The Operations Lead will develop and improve standard work, drive continuous improvement, and develop an effective team with safety, quality, and performance as a foundation. You will curate a culture of ownership, leading by example and managing collaboration with a "Win Together" mindset.

In this role, you will

Lead a team of Command Center leads and operators with varying backgrounds across multiple locations.

Balance company goals, operational risk, and ambiguous operational environments to deliver safe results.

Direct and provide tactical leadership for a multidisciplinary team of Command Center operators across multiple locations and shifts to ensure mission success.

Oversee lane monitoring, L2 triage, commercial optimization, and critical incident responses, ensuring all activities balance operational risk with business objectives.

Design and direct shift briefings to communicate essential Aurora initiatives, daily software changes, and operational updates to ensure alignment at every level.

Track, assimilate, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for business reviews, providing strategic oversight of program successes and efficiency gains.

Develop and drive your team by building on individual strengths to ensure continuous growth for scaled operations.

Act as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for key Aurora initiatives as they pertain to the Command Center.

Curate a culture of ownership by leading by example and managing cross-functional collaboration with a "Win Together" mindset.

Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora.

Required Qualifications

2+ years of people leadership focusing on growth and development.

Experience staffing and planning managers and an hourly workforce in a 24/7 dynamic environment.

Deep understanding of all Command Center functions including remote assistance, dispatch, mission control, triage, and quality audits.

Exceptional critical thinking, incident management proficiency, and high-risk operational experience.

Ability to prioritize company objectives from ambiguous mission requirements to maximize team and asset utilization.

Safety focus in high-risk environments and experience with emergency response and managing multiple large-scale operations.

Deep understanding of Learning Management System (LMS) tools and training program scaling.

Experience in an Agile or Scrum environment.

Ability to lead operations independently with little or no supervision.

The base hourly wage range for this position is$87,000 - $138,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
