Job summary

Moritz, a fast-growing AI-native law firm, seeks an Operations Lead in San Francisco to build and run our operational backbone. You will own systems, processes, and cross-functional coordination to help lawyers and clients move fast while AI remains core to how we work.

You’ll partner with founders on strategic projects, design scalable playbooks, and bring structure to ambiguous problems. This role combines operations, finance support, and vendor management in a modern legal services

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in operations, business operations, or similar generalist role.
• Experience building and scaling processes in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable with founders, clients, and cross-functional teams.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to run multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Strong analytical skills; comfortable with spreadsheets, dashboards, and reporting.
• Proactive and able to operate with ambiguity; CRM and productivity tool experience a plus.
• Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end operational processes across case management, billing, and internal workflows.
• Design, document, and continuously improve the systems that keep the firm running as we scale.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive fixes from diagnosis to implementation.
• Build and maintain dashboards, trackers, and reporting for real-time visibility into the business.
• Act as the bridge between legal, sales, and support functions.
• Manage vendor relationships, tools, and internal systems (CRM, admin dashboards, productivity tools).
• Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and performance processes for operational and support staff.
• Support financial operations: invoicing, payment tracking, and reconciliation across contractors and vendors.

About the Role

We're hiring an Operations Lead to work directly with our founding team, building and running the operational backbone of a fast-growing law firm. You'll own the systems, processes, and cross-functional coordination that let our lawyers and clients move fast without things falling through the cracks. AI is core to how we work: you'll use AI daily, so knowing how it works is a must.

What You'll Do

Operations & Process

• Own end-to-end operational processes across case management, billing, and internal workflows
• Design, document, and continuously improve the systems that keep the firm running as we scale
• Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies across teams, and drive fixes from diagnosis to implementation
• Build and maintain dashboards, trackers, and reporting that give the founding team real-time visibility into the business

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Act as the bridge between legal, sales, and support functions
• Manage vendor relationships, tools, and internal systems (CRM, admin dashboards, productivity tools)
• Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and performance processes for operational and support staff
• Support financial operations: invoicing, payment tracking, and reconciliation across contractors and vendors

Strategic Support

• Partner with the founders on special projects, from new market/hire rollouts to process overhauls
• Bring structure to ambiguous problems and turn them into repeatable playbooks
• Flag risks and opportunities before they become urgent

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in operations, business operations, or a similar generalist role, ideally at a startup
• Track record of building and scaling processes from scratch in a fast-moving environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working directly with founders, clients, and cross-functional teams
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to run multiple workstreams simultaneously
• Strong analytical skills; comfortable with spreadsheets, dashboards, and operational reporting
• Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity
• Experience with CRM tools and modern productivity/automation tools is a plus
• Experience in legal services, professional services, or a regulated industry is a plus
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco
