Job summary

Sealing Technologies, a Parsons Company, is seeking an Operations Lead to drive the technical operational delivery of a strategic DoD program. You will lead a technical team, perform hands-on engineering work, and deliver demonstrations to customers in a fast-paced defense environment.

The role requires deep systems engineering experience across Windows, Linux, ESXi, networking, and virtualization, plus strong leadership and program delivery skills. Security clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS, IT, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 12+ years hands-on systems engineering across architecture, networking, virtualization.
  • 5+ years defensive cyber ops experience in DoD or federal cyber orgs.
  • Expertise in systems architecture design, network protocols, defense-in-depth.
  • Experience with defensive cyber tools: Splunk, Elastic, Zeek, Palo Alto, VMware.
  • Experience with virtualization management (vCenter, Kubernetes, containers).
  • Automation tools experience (Ansible, Python, scripting).
  • Experience managing technical teams; DoD $25M+ programs.
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence and security compliance/audit frameworks.
  • Strong decision-making, customer-facing, leadership in matrix org.
  • Willingness to learn cabling and physical setup; hardware in data centers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform engineering tasks across the program lifecycle, including hands‑on systems architecture and integration.
  • Hands‑on hardware work: cabling, setup, and configuration of servers, switches, networking gear.
  • Research defensive cyber operations TTPs and DoD threats targeting US networks.
  • Lead distributed technical team across locations; plan resources and coordinate activities.
  • Identify high‑level functional and technical requirements with customers.
  • serv as senior technical interface; deliver demos and lead reviews.
  • Escalation response for complex issues affecting kit delivery and operations.
  • Coordinate activities across sysadmin, config mgmt, security, supply chain, service delivery.
  • Partner with Program Technical Director on strategy, risk, and planning.
  • Mentor senior engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
  • Support business development, proposals with senior technical input.

Position Overview

Sealing Technologies, a Parsons Company, is looking to hire an Operations Lead to drive the technical operational delivery of a strategic DoD program. This role combines technical leadership and team management with hands‑on engineering work, particularly with hardware. You will lead and personally perform engineering work across the program's technical lifecycle, lead a technical team, drive defensive cyber operations research, and serve as the senior technical interface for customer engagements and program reviews.

Note: This position is contingent upon award of an anticipated federal contract.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and personally perform engineering tasks across the program technical lifecycle, including hands‑on systems architecture, integration, and complex technical problem‑solving.
  • Perform hands‑on hardware work as required, including cabling, physical setup, and configuration of servers, switches, and networking equipment in data center, lab, and staging environments.
  • Conduct research and evaluate technical analysis with specific emphasis on defensive cyberspace operations Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and threats targeting US and DoD information networks.
  • Lead a distributed technical team across multiple locations with a primary concentration in Columbia, MD; plan and allocate resources, estimate staffing needs, and coordinate cross‑functional technical activities.
  • Identify high‑level functional and technical requirements through direct engagement with customers and knowledge of the DoD enterprise architecture.
  • Serve as the senior technical interface to customers; deliver technical demonstrations, lead technical reviews, and represent the program in customer engagements and acquisition milestones.
  • Lead escalation response for complex technical issues affecting kit delivery, customer operations, or program sustainment.
  • Coordinate technical activities across system administration, configuration management, security, supply chain, and service delivery functions; establish and maintain operational processes, standards, and runbooks across the program technical team.
  • Partner with the Program Technical Director on program technical strategy, risk management, and operational planning; drive technical decision‑making across the program delivery team.
  • Mentor senior engineers across the program team; contribute to technical career development and program‑wide engineering standards.
  • Support business development, proposal, and capture activities with senior technical input.
Minimum Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 12+ years of hands‑on experience in systems engineering, with demonstrated depth across systems architecture (Windows, Linux, ESXi), network security architecture, software development, networking, and virtualization.
  • 5+ years of experience with current defensive cyberspace TTPs and defensive cyber operations within Service Cyber Command elements, DoD, or federal cyber organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in systems architecture design, network protocols, infrastructure hardening, and defense‑in‑depth practices.
  • Working knowledge of defensive cyber tools including Splunk, Elastic, Zeek, Palo Alto, VMware, and similar platforms.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and management platforms (vCenter, Kubernetes, container deployment).
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Python, scripting) for systems and security operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical solutions for federal government (preferably DoD) valued at $25M or greater.
  • Experience with Agile project management tools (Jira, Confluence) and security frameworks for compliance and auditing.
  • Strong technical decision‑making, customer‑facing communication, and demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a matrixed technical organization.
  • Willingness and ability to learn cabling and physical setup for servers, switches, and other networking equipment.
  • Comfortable working with hardware in a data center or server room environment, including running, organizing, and labeling cables.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the workday to support delivery order fulfillment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoD Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) programs within Service Cyber Command elements.
  • Experience with deployable or tactical edge computing platforms.
  • Experience leading sustainment or service delivery for fielded DoD systems.
  • Experience producing and delivering technical demonstrations to DoD customers.
  • Experience with configuration management, quality management, and supply chain coordination in a program context.
  • Experience supporting business development, capture, and proposal efforts.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
