Qualifications

  • Knowledge of joint doctrine, land operations, and coordination with higher headquarters and interagency partners.
  • Familiarity with C2 systems and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, OneNote).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for executive-level reports and briefings.

  • Utilize C2 systems and collaboration tools to maintain situational awareness and support operations.

The Opportunity:

As a Current Operations Planner (Special Operations) supporting the SCOPES Program at USSOUTHCOM, you will support the Joint Task Force–Western Hemisphere (JTF-WHEM) by planning, coordinating, and synchronizing current operations across the theater, including Special Operations planning. You will monitor operations, assess emerging operational requirements, and integrate information from Army, Marine Corps, Special Operations, joint, coalition, and interagency partners to maintain an accurate operational picture and develop operational plans. Your expertise will provide senior leaders with timely situational awareness, support operational decision-making, and ensure unity of effort.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor, assess, and synchronize current operations to maintain an accurate and comprehensive operational picture across the theater.
  • Collect, analyze, and integrate information from Joint, Service, coalition, partner nation, and interagency organizations to identify significant land activities, emerging issues, and operational impacts.
  • Coordinate with land component commands, Joint Task Forces, Special Operations Forces, and external mission partners to synchronize current operations and support mission execution.
  • Prepare and deliver operational reports, executive summaries, briefings, and other decision support products for senior leaders, higher headquarters, and mission partners.
  • Monitor emerging operational requirements, identify potential risks, and recommend courses of action to support timely operational decision-making.
  • Utilize Command and Control (C2) systems, operational tracking tools, and collaboration platforms to maintain situational awareness and support current operations.
  • Advise commanders and operational planners on land operational developments, coordination requirements, and best practices to enhance operational effectiveness and decision advantage.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of military experience supporting operational planning within a Division, Corps, Joint Task Force, Theater Special Operations Command or Land Component Headquarters, or equivalent operational headquarters.
  • Experience planning, monitoring, and synchronizing current land operations in support of joint or multinational missions.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in fast-paced operational environments, make time-sensitive analytical assessments, and support crisis or contingency operations.
  • Knowledge of joint doctrine, land operations, and coordination with higher headquarters, component commands, Special Operations Forces, and interagency partners.
  • Familiarity with Command and Control (C2) systems, operational tracking platforms, and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and OneNote.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing executive-level reports, operational products, and senior leader briefings
Desired:
  • Background supporting Army, Marine Corps, or Special Operations current operations staffs.
  • Experience planning current or future operations in Theater Special Operations Commands, Joint Special Operations Command, or equivalent
  • Experience supporting joint exercises, contingency operations, or multinational land operations.
