J.B. Hunt is offering an Operations Internship for Spring 2027 in Pico Rivera, CA. This part-time role provides hands-on experience in transportation brokerage, carrier management, and market dynamics under close supervision.

You will participate in daily brokerage activities, verify carriers, and monitor shipments while learning pricing, margins, and service delivery within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program OR graduate degree program in good standing at an accredited college or university.
• Must be able to work 40 hours a week during the summer.
• Junior or Senior level preferred.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Willingness to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure and understanding of the transportation industry.
• Become involved in daily transportation brokerage activities; verify carrier authenticity, maintain accurate shipment records, and monitor freight movement to uphold service expectations.
• Build understanding of market trends, pricing strategies, and capacity challenges that support carrier negotiations and contribute to revenue and margin goals.
• Observe and practice serving as a liaison between internal stakeholders and carriers: communicate service issues to minimize cost and inefficiencies while delivering service.
• Learn about the technology and tools J.B. Hunt leverages to streamline workflows and promote efficiency.
