Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is offering an Operations Internship in Michigan.

The role provides exposure to transportation management basics, with tasks across planning, asset utilization, safety, and compliance. The internship schedule requires 20-25 hours per week during the school term. Eligible candidates are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, with preferred flexibility and adaptability.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to basic transportation management principles.
  • Participate in daily operational tasks including planning of freight, asset utilization, safety management, and DOT compliance.
  • Gain understanding of industry trends and company initiatives related to driver retention.
  • Perform account-specific duties as required by the customer.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Summary

Under close supervision, this position will assist with customers on providing transportation/logistics services.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain exposure and understanding of basic transportation management principles.
  • Become involved and participate in daily operational tasks including planning of freight; asset utilization; safety management; Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance; driver payroll; Customer Value Delivery; logistics management/analysis; driver supervision; profit-and-loss management; maintenance coordination.
  • Gain understanding of industry trends and company initiatives as it relates to driver retention.
  • Perform pertinent account-specific duties as required by customer.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program OR graduate degree program in good standing at an accredited community college, college or university.

  • Must be able to work 20-25 hours a week during the school semester.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Junior or Senior level preferred

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $15 - $24.50 a hour.

This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education,experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may beeligible forannual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of theCompany’s bonusand incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
