Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks an entry-level position at the Tyrone copper mining complex in Grant County, New Mexico. The role supports operations and maintenance in mine and processing areas within an industrial setting, performing housekeeping, equipment operation, and tool use.

No prior work experience is required; completion of required academics and practical competencies is expected, along with the ability to communicate in English for safety and procedures.

Where You Will Work

Tyrone is an open-pit copper mining complex located in Grant County, New Mexico – just 10 miles south of the historic mining community of Silver City. The copper processing facilities currently consist of a solvent extraction/electrowinning operation with an annual maximum capacity of approximately 100 million pounds of copper.

What You Will Do

• Support operations and/or maintenance in mine and processing areas in an industrial setting.
• Area housekeeping to include tasks such as shoveling, hosing and digging.
• Operation of processing/mobile equipment.

• Equipment/facility maintenance.
• Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned according to business need.

What You Bring To Freeport

• No work experience required.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$20.00 - $24.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
