Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Engineer: designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Process Engineer: provides technical and sustaining engineering support, recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies.

About the Role

Join MiniMed for a summer internship where you’ll do meaningful work, gain hands‑on experience, and make an impact on our mission to make every day a better day for people with diabetes. You’ll be part of a collaborative intern community, build your professional network, and gain exposure to opportunities that help you grow both personally and professionally.

Our summer internships are full‑time (40 hours/week), paid positions lasting 10‑11 weeks. We offer competitive compensation, educational and social programming throughout the summer,as well as housingassistanceand relocation support for eligible interns.

Engineering roles in the Operations engineering group can include manufacturing engineers and process engineers, along with other exciting roles. Examples of work in each of these areas are listed below.

  • Manufacturing Engineer: Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Process Engineer: Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area. Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.
Location and Work Model

Software Engineering Internships are based inNorthridge, CA. All interns mustresidein the U.S. for the duration of the internship.

Interns are expected to work onsite a minimum of3days per week andparticipatefull time,40hoursper week, as part of the intern cohort from June1through August13 for semester system programs or June14through August20 for quarter system programs.

Working toward a bachelor’s ormaster’s degree inmechanical engineering or related engineering major withan anticipatedgraduation date of Winter2027, Spring2028, Winter2028, or Spring2029.

Nice to Have
  • A minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: C/C++, C#, SQL, Python, Minitab, MATLAB, CAD: SolidWorks/Autocad or equivalent
  • Prior work on projects in a team environment
  • Relevant academic project, internship, or lab experience
  • Technical writing skills
  • Experience with statistics and data analysis or Digital IC Design Theory
