KBR, Inc. in Chantilly, VA is seeking an Operations Engineer (Space) to provide SME guidance and SPO liaison for deploying space protection capabilities. You will work with end users, developers and field staff to ensure a smooth transition from development to operations in a 24/7 environment.

Qualified candidates have TS/SCI with Polygraph, a STEM degree, 9+ years of technical experience, and space acquisitions/mission operations exposure; Agile and DevOps familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
  • Bachelor of Science - STEM degree.
  • 9+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience in IC or DoD space acquisitions or mission operations.
  • Experience deploying software in a 24/7 operations center.
  • Knowledge of agile software development principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide space protection operations mission expertise to acquisition managers and software engineers in the development of tools that provide operators Indications and Warning against Space threats.
  • Elicit system capability needs and user interface/experience preferences from operational users.
  • Collaborates with software developers to inform/guide mission application enhancements.
  • Manages the transition of new capabilities and software deliveries to operations.
  • Lead the review and coordination of system documentation and training materials.
  • Evaluates developer solutions, guides software deployment activities, and assesses patches/fixes.

KBR is seeking a Operations Engineer(Space) to join theAir Force,Space,and Intelligence Business Groupproviding systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The Operations Engineerwill serve asthe subject matter expert (SME) and System Program Office (SPO) representative coordinating with end user operators, the developer, and other stakeholdersforthedeployment of new protection capabilities into space operations. The OperationsEngineeris theSPO’s on-siteagentfor user-engagementwithoperatorsof a space protection systemand willcollaboratewithsite users andSMEs withinthe SPOhome officetosupport systemtesting,transition to operations planning, user/operator training,Operations and Maintenance(O&M)planningandDeficiency Report (DR)management, andbethe focal point forrepresenting SPO equitiesto thesite’sOperations stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Basic Compensation:

$132,000 - $161,000 USD annually

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Must have an active/current TS/SCI with a Polygraph

  • Bachelor of Science - STEM degree

  • 9+ years relevant technical experience.

  • Experiencedeployingand sustainingsoftwarewithin a 24/7 operations centeror similar environment.

  • Knowledge of agile software development principles.

Desired:
  • Experiencewith DevOps, includingcontinuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment(CI/CD).

  • Experiencein Space Protectionoperations and familiarity withprotection technologies.

  • Experience authoring operator-related or software deployment documentation.

  • Experience in Spacesystem testing,simulation, and modeling environments.

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of orbital mechanics and orbit determination.
