Job summary

AD Energy Recruitment partners with an innovative renewable energy developer to recruit an Operations Engineer for RNG and biogas infrastructure across North America. This role focuses on maximizing efficiency, reliability, and cost effectiveness of operating RNG facilities while shaping future plant designs.

As an Operations Engineer, you will leverage operational data, collaborate with engineering, project delivery and operations teams, and drive continuous improvement across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' engineering experience in gas or energy-related processing plants.
• Experience with Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), biogas or anaerobic digestion is highly desirable.
• Proficient with instrumentation, process control systems, SCADA and P&IDs.
• Strong data analytics and dashboard skills (Power BI or similar).

Responsibilities

• Monitor production performance across multiple RNG facilities and identify optimisation opportunities.
• Analyse downtime, process trends and plant performance data to improve reliability and maximise production.
• Troubleshoot anaerobic digestion systems, manure handling equipment, gas upgrading systems and related processes.
• Collaborate with Plant Operators, Maintenance and Instrumentation & Electrical teams to resolve issues.
• Develop operational reports and performance metrics for senior management.
• Identify and lead retrofit and plant improvement projects to increase efficiency and reduce opex.
• Review process designs, P&IDs and construction plans with focus on operability.
• Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor key KPIs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and best practices.

AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with an innovative renewable energy developer to recruit an Operations Engineer.This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation at the forefront of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and biogas infrastructure across North America.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on improving plant performance, solving operational challenges, and driving continuous improvement across multiple facilities. You'll work alongside engineering, project delivery and operations teams to optimise existing assets while helping shape the design and performance of future biogas and RNG plants.

The Role

As an Operations Engineer, you'll play a key role in maximising the efficiency and reliability of operating RNG facilities. Using operational data and on-site collaboration, you'll identify opportunities to improve plant performance, reduce operating costs and enhance long-term asset reliability.

You'll also provide valuable operational insight during the design and construction of new facilities, ensuring future plants are built with operability and performance in mind.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor production performance across multiple biogas and RNG facilities to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Analyse downtime, process trends and plant performance data to improve reliability and maximise production.
• Troubleshoot anaerobic digestion systems, manure handling equipment, gas upgrading systems and associated process equipment.
• Work closely with Plant Operators, Maintenance Teams and Instrumentation & Electrical personnel to resolve operational issues.
• Develop operational reports and performance metrics for senior management.
• Identify and lead retrofit and plant improvement projects that increase efficiency and reduce operating expenditure.
• Support engineering teams by reviewing process designs, P&IDs and construction plans with a strong focus on operational excellence.
• Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor key operational KPIs.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and operational best practices across the business.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years' engineering experience within natural gas processing, chemical processing, industrial process plants or related industries.
• Experience within Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), biogas, anaerobic digestion, landfill gas or gas processing is highly desirable.
• Proven experience improving plant performance through process optimisation and operational analysis.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation, process control systems, SCADA and P&IDs.
• Experience using data analytics tools such as Power BI or similar platforms is advantageous.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations and project teams.
• Comfortable travelling to operational facilities as required.
